The only thing which really makes me sad right now is when I think of the girl I used to know, how much I really loved her and how she was stolen from me and taken thousands of miles away by another.

I dreamed about her the other night. It put me in a most melancholy mood for the rest of that day. The feeling that I will never see her again is almost too much to bear.

LonelyMontse08: I guess we all know it is easier for a woman to express, sometimes even without words, when we feel sad. We are more expressive when it comes to feelings, happy, sad, angry any kind of feelings but, what about men?, what things make a man sad? In his everyday life, in a relationship, around his family and friends, around his work place.

I am curious to know that and what can a person around you do when you
feel sad about anything.

Thank you

I am sad when i read and see all the cruelty that goes on in the world today, wether it's to animals or humans. Very upsetting .

Not too many things make me sad. Alot of things could make me disappointed or frustrated if I let them. But sad, no. We are masters of our own emotions especially if we are emotionally mature, which is the healthy way to live. Giving into sad thoughts and emotions is a choice not an automatic response. I think if you keep a positive outlook as top priority in your life you will see most things from a bright and postive perspective. Sadness is reserved for those things which are overwhelming and not easily handled or processed. But as we evolve as humans the gist is to learn to rise above base emotions that are negative. Especially if you are a man, you have an example to set.

I believe Men are genuinely less prone to sadness as Women are more emotionally perceptive and receptive than Men. In a scientific study of the descendants of holocaust survivors it was shown that Women can become so traumatised that a Mother can pass the "trauma gene" on to her own children, even in cases where that child was adopted and had not contact with its birth Mother it was found that adopted descendants of female holocaust survivors often show many of the signs of severe trauma themselves, such as sleep deprivation and night terrors, the trauma link between male surivors and their descendants was far less prevalent.

This, along with personal experience, tells me that Women certainly are more sensitive in general and the stereotype is mostly true. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, empathy makes Women all the better nurturers and Im not so insecure as to have qualms in accepting that Women have more superior qualities to myself in certain respects. Modern Men often try to emulate being womanlike in terms of emotions but if I was a Woman I'd regard this as rather lacklustre and false.

The devastation of the world as he knows it.
The betrayal of anyone close.
More or less the same things as a woman, but with a lack of ability of expression.

I have a job I love and good family and friends. Obviously, my answer is very unique to me. What makes me sad is losing my wife fairly recently, the loneliness associated with it. I cope with the sadness by spending times with things that are physical manifestations of things we enjoyed, the memories I have, and talking to people when the need arises. I amalso sad that my older brother is terminally ill. My coping technique there is to spend as much time as I can with him.
