LonelyMontse08: Thank you Almera for your post, I always enjoy them because they are very good, I agree with you most of the things that make me sad can make a man sad but as you wrote some men (not all) show their emotions in a very different way or not at all and thats the moment we women sometimes get confused, for example if I have a friend, great friend, that I feel or sense is sad and I try to help or at least get near to talk he simply shuts down .... I wrote this question because it is happening with a friend of mine, and I want to help but he is being unkind to me so im just letting it pass cause i dont how to help him or if he even wants help, maybe he does but he dont want to show that he does i dont know
This isn't just men imo. I know several ppl men and women alike, who need time to assess and deal with things on their own before they'll remove that distant feeling.
What's problematic, again in my opinion is naggin the bejebuz out of someone before they even have a chance to digest things. Or worse taking their reactions personally.
Sorry, I get a little sad when ppl (women and men
) want to pigeon hole men and women into gender specific behaviors. 
Now, I'm going to go comfort myself with some Barry Manilow tunes.

I think each person has to decide whether to share those things or not - someone who has been through a difficult ordeal does not need others telling them how to feel. that's why I think it's best to back off & give people the space they need - they may NEVER talk to you about their past pain but still need you as a friend. a true friend isn't nosy

trueheart1941: I wanted to grow old ,with my wife and to watch our girls grow up,,,,and to settle down....but that never happened......I was pushed to hard...resulting having a stroke..at 51.....yes i feel sad.plus other resent events...in my life.....

I agree - and I don't see some of the less pleasant things (my divorce for example) that happened in the past as complete negativesit was a measure of growth - we find out who our real friends are at such times
