MarsMan: Most people automatically assume because that a product has a Bord Bia mark that it was born/raised/culled/processed in Ireland. Meat that is sourced from outside Ireland, but culled &/or processed here also carries a Bord Bia mark.
To know for sure you have to look at the back of the packet for the numbers, any that begin with IE are fully traceable back to the source here in Ireland, anything that begins with E or EC has an origin outside of Ireland and went through some form of processing here. But how many people actually look at the back of the pack?

I didnt know that and will now start looking a bit closer...thanks

I do, but I know that most people even don't know about the existence of that code. Look at some of the cheeses with Irish towns names, they have a UK code.

A lot of people are not known for using their brains... dunno

Just look where some of the food is produced, do we really need beans from Kenya and people starving in Africa? Or transporting beef and lamb from the other side of the world? doh
