Don't think is a good idea to go to court. Greece has agreed the staging of the modern Olympics,in a new country or city every 4 years, since their modern inception in 1896.- The point is the economic burden and what happens to the unused build facilities after the games, for the countries/cities, staging the games for just only 2,5 weeks.
epirb: Its a good idea , but you will be fighting it out in the world court to win . Stopping the word olympic being used would be the first step .
Some of the ancient events, aren't in use in the modern Olympics.-
Albertaghost: Nah. The Greek word for the event isn't patented. Hold it every four years, use the same sports that they used in ancient times and leave it at that.
I used google translate and came up with this "???µp?a??nt " Not sure of how accurate it is but whatever.
As well cease fire, every where in the world, for the duration of the games,as it happened in the ancient times.-
Leo_7: Yes.Criss.I m for The Greece option, near to Olimpia. They could host it every 4 years and make the opening shows like ancient times they were doing. That would be much more interesting.
Somebody has to maintained them, and if the facilities require expansions, for example more sleeping quarters, for the next games, 4 years is ample time till the next games.
Conrad73: what would happen with the Facilities during the Four Years until the Next Game? And would they be adequate?
lifeisadream: The British have not only your marbles but also they are using “your” Olympic Games as well, perhaps it is time to charge them for both!
ButWhat about charging Greece for promoting its Olympic Games?
Is it not about time you Mexican's had another revolution rather than trying to loot the British Museum for poor old Lord Elgin's marbles. The Greeks would have to pawn them at the European Central Bank anyways. Those charming British chappies just have then for safe keeping.
Another one supporting someone's heritage as its own.-

Please read post #5 and #7.as to why.The spirit of the Olympics is brotherhood , participation and peace, in the world, not comercialization. And if staged in Greece the facilities would belong to ALL COUNTRIES, as the cost of building stadiums, sleeping quarters.etc.etc.,will be the result of all countries contributing for building the facilities.
