Why Romney's Financial Help May Cost Him Millions

"Mitt Romney's finances have caused him any number of political headaches. But here's what no one else will tell you: They probably didn't even save him any money. Why not? Because most of these elaborate financial vehicles just aren't worth it. They cost too much in fees."

And this is the financial genious that wants to privatise Social Security, change Medicare/Medicaid into a voucher system?

Oh Ooby. laugh laugh laugh Do you really think Mitt Romney doesn't know this? rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Clearly he doesn't have the time or inclination to sit around all day managing money - and money DOES need to be managed - so he pays others to do so and that's his CHOICE.

Comsidering Romney graduated from Harvard Law School AND Harvard Business School with both a law degree and an M.B.A., not to mention years of remarkable success in the business world, I really don't think "stupid" is a good word for him. Particularly since Obama's background is far less impressive.

Time to find another nit to pick.

ooby_dooby: With all his degrees he should have been smarter about managing his money. I can understand making bad investment decisions by somebody who lacks a degree from Harvard Business School but he can't say he didn't know he was being raked over the coals. I guess he was busy doing missionary work or running the olympics at the time. I would never let him handle MY money that's for damn sure.

What's three percent of $250,00 gazillion dollars, Oobie? Why should he care? Romney is a very conservative investor in the sense that his portfolio is EXTREMELY diversified. He WISELY chooses not to have all his eggs in one basket. It's smart, but it's also a mangement nightmare. Moreover, because it's a blind operation - he is deliberately insulating himself from any whiff of impropriety.

It's a service he's happy to pay for.
