The British Goverment have threatened to arrest the " Widi man" Assange by going into the Equador Embassy in London under an act of law passed in the late eighties.

Do you think this is acceptable

If they do this, other countries will simply pass similar laws. British embassies abroad will face the same nonsense.

I wonder how much common sense you would think it is if it was your sister, daughter or friend he was accused of raping?

I think Ecuador just got pissed off with the threads for the British and the Americans. The Americans threatened them with reduced trade benefits if they granted asylum.
The American rhetoric against Assange is crazy! They are shouting for execution because he released certain cables.

sofarsogood74:
Sweden is not this hot bed of corruption he claims, I think we all know that.

Of course it is. laugh Judges hearing cases of piracy law were outed as having connections with Sony and the likes only a year or so ago. Sweden or any other country is not immune to shenanigans.

whitepaws: If i remember correctly wasnt there a helluva lot of Military emails he was leaking which is why he was chased by the yanks and warned but he didnt comply and kept releasing information about american involvement in Afghanistan

Yeah. They already have the man that leaked them. Manning. Then they go after the messenger. They also muscled in on Banks and private companies to stop their services. Really is a case of overstepping the line.

As for the embassy, if the Brits set a precedent for this, they'll be a lot of Embassy incursions in other countries not friendly to the UK, and they'll be a lot of dead MI6 agents.

I never said it was totally squaky clean. Why do people split hairs on CS all the time.

I said it's not the HOT BED of corruption he claims. He is claiming the Swedish government is in bed with the US. They got two women to make up this story to frame him. I dont believe that and if it is the case then he should try to prove that. But they seem to have DNA evidence and plenty of other stuff.

sofarsogood74: Or maybe he wants you to believe there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. There is a European arrest warrent out on him so why do European arreast rules not apply to him?

I dont believ for one second it is this huge conspiracy against him involving the UK, US and Sweden, the Swedish Police and the two women who accused him.

Its not clear to me at all Wiki leaks is involved...Its clear he wants us all to think that.

WOuld it have anything to do with him being Australian born and not born in Europe? I dont know....thats why I am posing the question.

No it wouldn't. If he is in Europe then European laws apply to him. If what you are saying is true then when we travel we bring the laws of Irenad with us. laugh

European laws apply to everyone in Europe no matter how long you are here for or what your nationality is. laugh

The European Arrest Warrant does apply to him. But he is on Ecuador soil now and has had asylum granted. If the British raid an embassy, it will open up a can of worms.
It might all be nonsense about the conspiracy he is stating but why are the Americans getting involved with other countries business when they haven't charged him or applied for extrication for him yet?

I posed the question stating clearly that I did not know if it was the reason.....I in no way shape or form said it was the reason.

But it did apply to him!!! He went on the run! So he is running away from the charges. That tell me all I need to know.

I dont care why the US is getting involved. That is what I am saying. He is loving the US involvment as it makes people like you think there is something else to it.

All I know is he is wanted on a European arrest warrent. He went on the run from that. So I think the Brits should go in and get him.
