robplum: a good find mate, i had my detector with me yesterday when i located the trench, only thing i found was a loop of number eight

not having a lot of luck am i?
i always look where the water comes rushing to a stop, and i find lots of stuff that way, trouble is people in those days were so poor they really hung onto ntheir stuff like a vicegrip,i think you have to look where they are sure to have lost their belongings ,like under clothes lines and in tents where they slept, etc i,m only guessing, but i look for funny places like that, cant go up my spot on the river because its been flooded all winter,i,m hoping the wtare will have washed away a bit of dirt

Being aluminum does make it much lighter to carry to those hard to get to places. I have visited a few old workings in my time and wonder at the effort they did. More so in the outback where they hard to blast the rock to follow a possible seam. And then no water.

there atre quite a few that will come to your house and give you the going price for gold, stay away from those shishenhousers that operrate those little gold shops in shopping centres, they take advantage of women who feel like spending some money on nice clothes so they see the moron in the gpld shop and go oooh, i can make some money here, and they get half of what its worth.anyone that gives you the gold price is alright because they buy it off you not to make money straight away, but to keep it till the price rises then sell it,so youre not losing.i sold mine to a guy called cash for old gold, and he weighe it,and gave me the 1200 dollares an ounce that was the price then ,so i didnt lose ,seeing it was a nine ounce nugget ,real big,had it for 22yrs ,decided now is time to sell.but make sure they weigh it in front of you ,with digital scales, and they will want to test it with nitric acid to prove its real

bit more on the history thing, hey robbo remeber i found a lighter and i showed you th pic, well i polished ity up and found a couple of words on it,turns out that lighter that belonged to the farmers kids great grandfather, was actually a lighter from their grandfather not great grandfather, found out vthat the grandfather had a lighter from his dad,and lost it during ww1,and wanted a similar lighter so he got one from aformer german soldier as a present after the war in 1922,and it was an imco lighter, and imco first made buttons ,but after the war in1918,they started making lighters from spent ammunition from the frontlines,so every one you see has been fired in angeras a bullet ,but afetrwards it was a lighter.pretty interesting hey,the people showed me letters from their grandad and the story has been unfolding, and they gave me a old magnifying glass ,missing a leg,i,ll have to take a pic and show you, its weird but they gave me it for my collection, real nice people

na mate

Last Thursday purchased upgrade of backup software, downloaded it and hit the install button, program didn’t install correctly as it would not accept an earlier installed version upgrade key.
Long story containing quite a bit of frustration, including a bid on eBay on Toshiba satellite pro c850, to cut story short, settled my mind to recovering computer after having been completely wiped out.
Not only wiped out my computer hard drive, it removed the hard drive partition label C: and renamed the computer Hitachi, of course it wouldn’t boot at all, a real bummer….

Took four or five hours to get back online mostly because I’m a slow learner I suppose…fortunately I had purchased Paragon Drive Copy program, from a recovery disk that program had made was able to relabel the main partition C:..
Using an Acronis Program recovery disk loaded and installed an image made last year and by midnight checked mail and logged into CS…this afternoon the bid earlier placed increased pain by $355 + freight…

Re Cubbie Station Sale to Chinese

Cubbie Group Ltd (Subject to Deed of Company Arrangement) properties comprise 96,000 hectares of land. Currently 22,000 hectares has been developed for agriculture. It is anticipated that a further 11,000 hectares will be developed for irrigated agriculture by the group.

Cubbie Group is the largest cotton producer in Australia with the ability to produce 330,000 bales of cotton from 33,000 hectares of irrigated land -production worth more than $160 million at a price of $500 per bale.

Cubbie Group has around $475M in assets, however its been reported Cubbie Station, near Dirranbandi in south-west Queensland, went into administration in 2009 with debts of more than $300 million while its also reported the Chinese/Japanese consortium purchased 80% for just 300million + sounds to me like someone is getting shafted, if recorded assets are $475 mil and the land has potential to produce $160 mil per year, its currently producing $1,452,000 @ $500 per bail + recorded assets of $475mil - debit owed of $300mil + say then they paid $176,452,000 for the assets then they only paid $123,548 mil for Cubbie Station
