Hi guys.
Can anyone tell me the MPG I'll get from a 1.2 VW Polo?!
I'm trying to accurately work out the fuel cost for an upcoming roadtrip but need to know this first!
Cheers in advance...

I'd imagine close to 50mph if driven steadily...a combined figure maybe 45mpg...if its a long drive use gentle acceleration and braking and try best to stick at a constant speed..drive at 60mph and you should get figures in the high 50s ireland

There is no set figure really..just drive it easy and you'll get good mpg seeing as its only a 1.2....thrash any car and it'll drink juice

Drive the car at a steady pace.
Don't rev the engine too much.
Change gears when you need to accelerate.
Keep your tyres inflated to the correct level.
Have your car serviced at regular intervals.
Don't carry unnecessary weight in the boot.
Try to limit the open windows when you are driving.
Do not fill the fill the tank with petrol.
Shop around and get the lowest prices for petrol or diesel.

Yeah, it is to do with fuel efficiency, like if you have a roof rack on the car it causes wind resistance.
Think of it like if you are walking and the more shopping bags you have to carry, or if it is a windy day, the more energy you have to use to get to your destination, same with a car.
It might not mean a lot on small journeys but little things like I pointed out will add up over a year to save you a few bob.

I find Autotrader . uk a brilliant site for finding and comparing fuelo efficiency along with spec.

Type in the car of your choice and then click on one of many that comes up......In the top bar menu it will give various options when you open them about spec Ncap safety rating and fuel efficiency per model ..

If you ever think about buying a car from someone this side of the pond you can get a value of a car ...go to ROS.ie and see what the VRT rate is ,add them together and see how much of a difference is between importing and staying with a local car is...

I've got bad news for you, it is nearly impossible to predict in advance how much fuel you would use on a trip. First you need to know the exact route, hills, straights, bends, road surface, weather, all the speed limits along the way, traffic conditions, how much weight in luggage etc you will be carrying, car engine condition, type of tyres. It goes on and on.

Even in Formula 1 with all their technology can't always predict accurately.
