Hoping to find an affectionate cat this time. Picking up a kitten and cuddling it does not guarantee that when it grows up it is affectionate[/quote
I do not care for cats and do not find them affectionate at all only when it suits them unlike a dog always at your beck and call always waiting eager at the door for you to get home cats are neither here or there when you arrive home like example OH! hello it's only you purrrr see Ya! I'm outta here gotta go slaughter a bird sorry but that is the truth unless you are one of thoses really really great cat owners who have a built in cat house to keep it in. 10 points for being a caring pet owner!
Don't get me wrong I would never hurt a cat or any animal ever just find them usless to have as pets. Not cats fault just human error Yesterday I had to get my ladder and the guy on the building site to get his because a young kitten got caught in the court yard next door couldn't get out as must have fell off the roof into yard and no one lives there overnight it rained really hard no shelter for the poor thing. I heard it meowwing loud in the morning it was so scared poor thing anyhow we got it out and it ran straight home 4 doors up to it's owners now that pi***ss me off letting the cat roam of a night happens all the time with people who are suppose to be loving cat owners Sorry if you don't like what I have said but it is the bloody truth.

A cat like any other animal will be as affectionate as you are to it . Mine actually follow me around. Sometimes more than the dog .
P:You have to teach them early not to bite especially when you pet them .

One of the reasons I love cats because they have a mind of their own. My cat would be an indoor cat. My mother used to have a cat that knew if she did not feel well and would not leave her

Yes I too had one cat then when going for a walk it would follow. I cuddle and pick up kittens but found it was no guarantee if would grow up and wanted to be held

I have had cats most of my life, both male and female. Their personality and affection are not gender-based. If you want an affectionate kitty, pick one up and hold it close to you. If it purrs and relaxes in your arms, that's usually a good indication that kitty will be affectionate.
I love all of their different personalities. I've had spunky cats, lap sitters, ones that don't like to be held, and I loved them all for their own differences. One in particular will always hold a special place in my heart...he was independent, untrainable, had flaws, and he taught me much about where true beauty lies, through imperfections.

no two cats have the same personality, every one is different, i was lucky with mine, he is now 14, had since he was two weeks old, he is male and neutered, he has got to be near me all the time, now sitting in front of computer as writing this, very affectionate, and would be hard to replace, hope you find the right one

all the best - consider a mature cat from the shelter too - some are just waiting for the chance to find a home.
I myself enjoy the two wild tom cats I see in my back yard occassionally..... why did that just sound so dirty.....
