Hi everyone wave
just a bit of fun for a Tuesday night ,
a memory came back to me this morning , just out of the blue and i can hardy believe it came back to me for some reason today !

What's your earliest childhood memory ?

mine is 42 years ago ! i was 5 years old and it was my first day in school !
i remember mammy taking me into school , and being introduced to my teacher --i even remember her name Miss Sheridan -a tiny lady , with grey hair all tied back into tight bun with very sharp features and a pointy nose grin i vividly remember thinking this woman frightened the wits of me ,i will never stick this place called "school " lol, but she turned out to be a lovely lady and a brilliant teacher thumbs up
so get your thinking caps on folks ,
what is your earliest childhood memory ?

My earliest memories are from the pram. Being afraid of strange shapes and colours. I later found out that they were ornamental vases that I could see from the pram when I used to be put down in the afternoon in another room.

I was 4, my mums friend came with a pram with big wheels on it my sister was crying and screaming, she took her, she was 5 , i was upset for my sister and wondered where they were taking her and why, was scared of my mums friend after that, turns out they were taking her to the convent school, the nuns were evil, thank god a new school opened and i was sent there and my sister transfered after, remember it vividly like it was yesterday

i was looking forward to reading if anyone could remember even further back than me --i genuinely can't remember anything before i was 5 years old -- and first post is from you MD and you can go back so much further as in when you were a baby thumbs up
That sure is impressive grin
are the vases still on display somewhere ?

I have pots of memories from the house we lived in until I was 2. (which is across the road from where I live now)
My dad carrying me down the stairs and holding the top of my head because there was a low bit. I remember my older brother building a stack of teddies in my cot and pulling a chair over beisde it so i could climb out and get into his bed. (he's 18 months older than me)
I remember the blue and green curtains in my parents bedroom and of sitting on my mothers knee and my hearing my brother fall down the stairs.
None of these my brother can remember and my mother is surprised I can too. Clinbing up the stairs to my dads old workplace on my hands and knees. And walking across the golf course with our housekeeper to the post office. When I was 3 I was in hospital cos i stuck something up my nose and i can see clearly even now what the lift to the theatre was like and also the cots with the HUGE metal railing.

Although the weirdest vivid memory I have is horses at my grandparents house and my dad carrying me out to see them. I can remember what colour they were too. But my father swears they were gone before I was even born!!!!! wow

Yeah, they are dark bottle green.. me granny has them back home. And I *still* glance at them lol. The memory I have of them is them changing and warping shape and basically moving... sort of like a hallucination, hence the fear. It's the only memory back that far. After that, I can remember songs, Radio Gaga, Queen, Born in the USA, Bruce Springsteen (My mother was a big Bruce Springsteen fan) and I remember some U2 and a bunch of other memories from around 4 or 5. The reason I know I was <5 for the later memories is because I wasn't with my parents after I was 5 so the house was different and the people around me were different.

I remember a faded red bucket, the type used to build sand castles. I took it everywhere with me. I used it to stand on to reach things, door knobs, drawers, taps. I dont knopw how old I was..two or three maybe.

I also remember the first time I tasted sherbet...I thought it was the best ever.
