oh the joys of xmas drinks
i man has a chip on shoulder about feminsists & another about the north
& we both mount our high horses.

a soliciter was killed in north possible british collusion
shame on us for not starting thread on it
never mind rest of people in north who died by different groups
but shame on us for not singling out 1 individual
thousands die in syria from civil war
no thread but we focus on 1 individual at home

i not a republician or a loyalist
i dont care if we 26 or 32
but i dont like people selectively picking trouble to prove points & but ignoring others
speaking of pints i be better able to speak at later stage when xmas festivies wear us
but for now must mount of high horse and water it
after all i dont want to be accused of being a hippocrite or having double standards

WadeWilson: a soliciter was killed in north possible british collusion

Not possible collusion. THere was wide spread colussion. Read the reports. He was shot 14 times in the face in front of his family. The Family were promised a full inquiry at west land park agreement by Tony Blair..Keep facts straight.

WadeWilson: shame on us for not starting thread on it

Shame on you for not knowing facts..But yet like snowy talk about a subject you know little to nothing about.

I have read most of this thread and sad to say that it is true that most folks down here do regard N.Ireland's problems, both past and present as been there own problems and nothing to do with southerners.

The thing that they forget or perhaps choose to forget is that they don't stop to think . . . what if it had been 6 counties in Leinster, Munster or Connaught that our English ex overlords had decided to keep for themselves???

I have never been to N.I. and i can't see myself ever going up there, it seems almost like a foreign country to me and if i were to take a walk in the wrong part of town and get called a Fenian Bas...d and got spat on, well, i would take that to heart, to put it mildly.

So, what's the purpose of this thread exactly?

Little Miss Dynamite. I grew up during the troubles in the very murky streets of Ardoyne (north Belfast Republican/Nationalist ghetto).

Get your facts straight.

I agree with everything you said. Most people in the 26counties haven't a clue whats going on in the o6c. And from time to time I like to inform my southern cousins whats going on. One day it may jst seep across the border again.

There is also a real chance that once Ireland takes the reigns in Jan in Europe and if William Hague gets his his way he'll ask Enda to rejoin the commonwealth and ask him to leave Europe. Meaning Lizzie is Head of state and not Joe Higgins.

I'm not pro-British, I'm pro democracy. If the Brits hadn't protected you you would have been forced to flee Belfast and cross the border. Then you would have seen how popular you were with what you think are your 'fellow Irish', as you languished in some refugee hell-hole feeling bitter and angry.

The people who defended my area of Belfast during the pogroms of 69/70 were the PIRA. I could even tell you the names of the volunteers if you want. The Army did nothing and thats a fact. My family didn't flee anywhere. I can back that up too.

Phoenix: You are a West Brit. So at Narrow Water 18 paras got blown to bits. Your point being? This is the same regiment that killed 11 innocent people in Ballymurphy and 14 on the streets of Derry.

Even the BA (British Army) took their hats off and said that Narrow Water was a well planed, military action. There was a war on then snowy. They joined knowing what could happen.

And Witty isn't political. She's a nationalist. I'm a republican. Doesn't make me a terrorist. You are a West Brit.

Ah yes, the casual 'if you don't agree with me you are a traitor' argument beloved of cavemen everywhere.

So 'they joined knowing what could happen' yes they did, just like the Gibralter 3 joined knowing what could happen but that doesn't stop you seeing it in moral terms does it? Lol your double standards and victimhood are so obvious to any objective viewer but your mind is poisoned by your upbringing so you just can't look at it objectively. Unfortunately for you the rest of us have to look at it that way, that's why you will always be a bewildered minority.

By the way have you noticed the overall lack of interest in this thread? you are on your own buddy, don't expect any help from the South.

You never actually answer any of my arguments do you? You just respond with your usual 'you don't know what you are talking about' stufflaugh

I think if you look at the recent funeral of Alan Ryan and the number of people there, there is more support than you want to admit.

Every volunteer in the RM who uses arms knows that'll they probably get killed or end up in jail.

In Gib. there was no bomb, they weren't armed and had their hands up in surrender. They were also tailed from Belfast across Europe by several police forces and could have been arrested at anytime. Had they've been arrested then two British undercover soliders would probably be alive today. Think about snowy because some bright spark in whitehall give the nod and the SAS went in all guns blazinf two soliders got killed and three people died at a funeral. None of whom had to die but did becuase of British actions.

Sorry but i just can't see that happening, the country would go into riot mode and it will attract international attention.

The funeral of Alan Ryan saw a few hundred skangers from all over Ireland at it. You must know nothing about our society here if you think such people get to decide anything about what happens in life!

Once again you ignore my point! Do I need to once again point out the double standards about your reaction to the 18 dead soldiers and the 3 dead terrorists in Gibralter? Go back and read it again and you might get it this time!

Ok so the Gibralter 3 were unarmed (at the time of their killing) so what do you think they were doing there? Bird watching?

If you knew anything about life in this country you would understand the quiet admiration for the Brits here after Gibralter, it was brilliant and myself and my mates drank a toast to the SAS the following night.wine

Last point first. Then why do you say you put Ireland first etc..on pg 4 I answered every point you made from you not supporting Brits (and I showed you did)..And now you salute the SAS????

Now you admit the Gib 3 weren't armed. So it's ok in your eyes to shoot unarmed people dead? What happened to the yellow flag?

And there was more than a few hundred at the funeral. And it sent a message out that these so called republican micro groups have a much larger support base in the 32counties than people like yourself care to admit.

Snowy not only I don't care about narrow water I also don't care for soliders getting killed in Iraq or Afghan. I've no love for the British Army. Doesn't make me a terrorist.

But you as an Irish man have a warped view of Irish history.

Snowy, you owe witty an apology. There isn't a political bone in her body. I'm basing my opinion on one simple fact. Anytime I've brought up the emotive subject of the o6c she always avoids them until this one.

But she knows more about whats going on than you ever will. But she shows restraint and bites her wee tongue. That was until you causally brushed aside events in Derry in 1972 when the BA shot and killed 14 innocent people at a civil rights march in her home town.

I can be accused of having a heirarchy of killings and I'll take it on the chin. I can accept republican volunteers being killed while on actice service. But I drw the line when state forces either openly or covertly kill innocent people or unarmed volunteers.

ohwiseone: Hi Snowy, I have repeatedly said I condone all violence Snowy. Not one side.
And I did not mention the thousands of lives lost in the troubles, including the ones you mentioned above, as I was only responding to your one comment, i.e. that the British army showed great restraint, they didn't and even they admit their wrong doings now. I do not agree with any lives being lost and have not joined the political discussions on here as I am not educated in the subject area. I have lived in both communities and seen both sides suffer over the years, enough is enough, people just want to look after their families and have a normal life.
Now I never got personal with you Snowy yet you a couple personal comments and assumptions you have made regarding me, with the greatest respect, you do not know me nor I you. Tiny minded, middle class upbringing, state paid job, no humanity? Misconception on all counts!

Have a good day Snowy

No she doesn't know what's going on, she hasn't a clue. If she did she would understand that the only reason she is still alive is because of the Brits and the protection they gave her. Unfortunately like you she has the victimhood complex and doesn't see that the main cause of the troubles were her 'own side'.
