I have thought that if someone did something bad to me they might not get paid back because they did so much good for other people, on the other hand someone who does something good might do so much bad they will pay the price. So in the long run I believe people get according to what they do, and how much they forgive others. If you forgive others of transgressions against you, when you mess up it will work out better for you.

You don't understand the quote. It means that eventually, everything WILL be equal/fair. For your future reference: those kinds of sayings and quotes are like fables--they tell a story in order to help one understand an ideal. The quote could also very well have ended in "exceedingly well", "exceedingly proper".
