after seeing facetowardfronts 'female peadophile' video and being pretty well sickend by what i heard/saw, (view it if you have the stomach), and later mr1983s follow on male paedo thread, i had a say, and in that 'say', i proposed we dump the very worst of ofenders on a 'prison ship' out in the atlantic.
someone wanna do the math on how much it costs to keep scumbags locked up in the 'grey bar hotel' these days, snooker, tv, rec rooms, 3 squares a day (there are kids in families eating worse and less), free medical, 'personal improvment iniatives'. were paying for that ladies and gents. i protest, prison is soft, govt is soft, criminals are 'happy in', while we cover the cost.
little wonder scumbags do what they do, there is no deterrant when doing time is like a long stay in 'centre-parks'.
there, ive had another say. discuss if you want or ingnore, its up to you.
ok, im off for food, i might be gone a while.

Here:

4. The average cost of imprisonment per prisoner was €65,404 in 2012, not including education spend; it was €65,359in 2011; €70,513 in 2010; €77,222 in 2009.

This changes BTW per prison, or institution.

For a small fee, I have access to a hundred acres or so of land, I would house all them pedos. For a fraction of the cost.

For a start, we could show the world that crime doesn't pay in Ireland, by not awarding little scumbag criminals 150,000 euro.doh

Serious topic (I don't normally comment on these as views here are extreme at best and down right mental at worst, but here goes)

Yes I would like to see tougher prisons and less "pampering" for prisoners

BUT

these days human rights are in play so you can say what you like here, but criminals have rights and in free countries will always be treated fairly okay.

I do think that petty criminals should be given community work instead of going to a "holiday camp", but again factors such as Health and Safely laws and insurance etc stops this.

I also think that drug addicts who commit crimes would be better off in rehab than prison, again this is an ideal world scenario.

I am not 100% sure I would bring back capital punishment.....executing the wrong person would put me off this!

Wasn't it the Isle of Mann (not so long ago) that had the "cat o 9 tails"? Public flogging for petty crime!
That would work!
I would agree with that.

BUT

no way are the bleeding hearts going to let us flog people in public

How do we make it unattractive? It is if you're on the receiving end of it or an observer with a conscience. For those involved with crime it couldnt be anything but attractive. There is a lot of kudos in the "underworld". A lot of gaol time is calculated (they need rest too), the juvi centres are where the young ones hone their skills. I have no doubt a lot of "law abiding" folk would love to get one over on the state and hide reluctant envy. Our judicial system works very well for our criminals.

Crime against children is a whole other element. Shoot em on the spot.

I have suggested, with regards to the drug problem, that all the seized drugs should be put in secure locations around the Country and then distributed, 'watered down' to addicts FREE of charge. With clean needles and no risk of catching anything, it would put an end to the 'drug wars' as they are at the moment. Just an idea.
Young offenders are never going to mend their ways in institutions. Bring back the 'Chain-gang' system and make them clean out ditches, drains etc. Humiliation is a deterrent I feel but those who oppose any form of a strict discipline regime, will undoubtedly have a moan, in that case, place a young offender into their care and then they may think differently.
As for the 'Death Penalty', in this age of forensic science, there should be no doubt of a persons guilt. No messing about with long drawn out appeals, when found guilty, taken straight to the place of execution and 'Goodnight'.
Sorted.....

I'll make one quick point on that if I may....serious dosnt work for me on here laugh This so called war on drugs is completely centred on those who make money on it and those who dont ie. those supposedly laying down the law and those who live outside it. It has little to do with drugs and the damage they cause. I'm sorry, there is no such thing as a "secure location".

Speaking of a secure location, why do we waste so much time body searching people tourists from Columbia? Like does Irish law enforcement and contraband detection really believe that all the drugs on the streets of Ireland is smuggled in the bumholes of Jose and Maria from Bogota??

How do we make crime unattractive?. Tell the criminals that if they`re arrested and convicted, they have to sleep with one of those ugly, dipstick Kartrashian sisters.

Well they tried all the other ways hanging, cat o nine tails and it dident work and somtimes they hanged the wrong one dug them up and pardoned them tut tut ooops were sorry wont do it again, personaly I think they send some people to jail who don't or shouldent be there t.v licences , prison is the university of crime, I think it should be people who are a danger to others who go there to prison, I don't see the point of putting heroin addicts there, theres never been a perfect system for punishment.

@ modermen,
you are of couse entitled to your opinion as indeed i am mine.
i have not seen the documentary you mentioned, but it sounds like the very deterant i would approve of.
i dont do crime, neither do my family or friends, and if my time on earth is anything to go by, me and mine wont get banged up any time soon for criminal doings. forget the super hypotheticals of conspititorial framings and set ups, thats the preserve of hollywood screen writers and pulp novelists, thats not gonna happen to the average john and mary.
crimmos need punishment, rehab has a place for the drug users with whom i have considerable sympathy, but yer career crimmos have had it to easy for to long.
lock em up, make them pay, let them have an experience they will not want to repeat, thats my opinion.
