Basses: (10 at last count)

4, 5, 6 string / fretted and fretless / electric and acoustic / upright EUB / picallo bass...

Cello (passable if rehersed, wife taught me) / Guitar (beginners)...

Bodhran, bit of a one trick pony, but i get by in a session...

oh, and singer, but thats easy stuff...

To slow a music reader to have ever made it as a professional, but have a perfect ear and learn music like people have photographic memory for the written word , but thats no good to be a session player, or id have been one...

grin

Brandenburger: in england i played with a couple of bands, one was a covers and functions band working out of portsmouth (their still going after 15 years), it was a bloody good earner, around a third of my weekly earnings came from gigging...
the second band was the Emerson Lake and Palmer 'tribute band' Works 3, that was a passion project that broke us (well, me particularly) finacially, the roadies got more than we did, but we loved doing it, rediculously diffuclt music, but well enough recieved, we were that close to breaking into the supporting of well known acts when our keyboardist had a full on nervous breakdown...so, back to fixing cars for a living for the next 12 years...
here however, im working with a couple of bands, and getting ready for gigging, were waiting to be filmed for YT demos, so, yes, still at it and hopefull of a reprieve and some kind of regular music playing and paying income (ya almost have to pay pubs to play now, gone are the days of easy money)....

Well done!

Keep at it, so long as your hsving fun thumbs up

I think pubs in Ireland should have open mic nights like they have in the USA, a good way of getting your band known and gather a following, i think fred zeppelins in Cork do them but i don't know of any others.
