I can't help thinking that the 3 kids and their mother being held in Cairo for protesting in the Mosque are hypocrites.

They were protesting on behalf of the Muslim brotherhood who want Egypt to become a Muslim state with Sharia law. Now that is all well and good and if the majority of Egyptians want that fair enough. But these 4 people are now living in Ireland and are Irish citizens. They are enjoying all the freedom that gives them. It is so easy for them to protest in support for a regime that they will never have to live under! doh

And what the hell is the mother doing bringing them into the mosque to protest when everyone knew it would end in violence? And now they are crying for sympathy and screaming about how they want the foreign office to help them!roll eyes

I can't understand what the fuss is all about they're not even Irish and dont give me this well they have Irish citizenship..so do a couple of thousand nigerians..in the eyes of the law they are Irish but to me all they are is foreigners just taking Irish citizenship because they can..Irish citizenship seems to be cheap and easy to get..stand up in front of a judge and raise your right hand your now and Irish citizen..the men that died to free this country must be rolling in their graves the fact that we give citizenship to complete aliens and strangers ireland

unlaoised: Yes, let's all ignore the fact that the Irish have been emigrating to other countries for decades...and were welcomed. I guess it doesn't work the other way around eh?

I have no prob with them being called Irish as long as they have Irish passports. I just think they are hypocrites for protesting in favour of the Muslim Brotherhood when they live in a non Sharia law country.dunno

That I agree with, but HC and a few others seem to have a problem with those carrying Irish passports as well.

Something tells me these folk didn't fit into that category. I think they enjoy all the freedoms they have in Ireland and the opportunities for them, but they protest in favour of Sharia law in another country.

Absolute hypocrites. They can just jump on a plane back to Ireland while others have to live under those draconian laws.

sofarsogood74: In fairness you did say when Irish immigrants move to another country they live by the rules.....But I bet all them don't....Just like immigrants in this country.

We need immigration in Ireland. There are a lot of top range science jobs that there are no Irish candidates for. And the hospitality industry in Ireland would have lost without immigration over the last 15 years or so.
