there4u80: At least you "saw" them, hey, i drive for a living, large van, i drive with my dipped headlights switched on during daylight (everyone should IMO), i witness car drivers who for whatever reason, still fail to see a big white van with 2 dipped headlights on!

As for the speeding motorcyclists, i see the same thing, not very often i must add but the odd idiot for sure, they are in the minority though and most, unfortunately, meet their doom, sooner or later.

I don't agree with the price but this new EDT that new car licence holders must undertake is something that i agree with, i think it should go one step further though, as with motorcycles, new car licence holders (after passing their final test) should be restricted to a certain engine cc and/or power output for the 1st two years. In reality, a person of 18 or under (?) can buy, for example, a high powered Subaru Impreza and insure and drive it, a train wreck in the making!
I think the UK are ahead of us in a lot of ways with learner drivers and new licence holders

You made some excellent points there. I think most cars are fitted with daytime running lights but I agree that some car drivers are even worse. The level of stupidity I see at times makes me wonder how certain people are allowed to drive in the first place.

Taureanmale: Yea they d badly want to audit the roads properly....not just go by class of road...theres national secondary roads down here that are not fit for 80k let alone the 100k they re set at while there are regional roads out there well capable of taking the 100k ...and as for automatically downgrading national roads when they re bypassed ....lunacy in places

I totally agree with this and the design of some of the roads ESP motorway entrance points and exits are lethal at times.

What about groups of people walking 3 and 4 abreast, and refusing to move into single file when they see/hear a car coming?

sofarsogood74: It's not only about how wide or straight the roads are. It is all to do with the amount of traffic on the road, the amount of dwellings or business premises in the area and the amount of footfall the paths on the road get. Any road that is in a "built up" area will have a 50kph speed limit or less. And built up just means there is a certain number of houses on it thus pedestrians will be more likely to be walking on it.

I have a few points on my licence all for speeding. My bad.

This road he mentions ....is a dual carriageway, has no entrances worth mentioning leading onto it, has wide footpaths both sides and also cyle lanes ..if my memory serves me right...
