Now England produce some of the best wine available, White is crisp and clean tasting and red very dry and full of good flavours.

Glitch101: Hi Sooner,I find this strange that you cannot buy wines from other countries in the USA.

Here in the UK you can go into any Supermarket and you have choices from around the World.

We also have specialised wine shops.

Hi Glitch wave I can't speak for the rest of the US, I just know what's available in my area, I haven't tried Oklahoma City or Tulsa, maybe their liquor stores offer much more. We can't buy wine or liquor in our grocery stores, just solely through a liquor store, I suppose I could ask the liquor store to see what they might be able to do....you have to remember Oklahoma is ultra conservative

We can thank global warming.

Also, never confuse English wine for British wine, the latter is made from imported concentrate and it tastes like piss.

SoonerGal: I love wine, but was wondering if anyone order's from various sites or just buys what's locally available...I would love to have some imports from Italy and around the world...has anyone tried this?
I have ordered a lot of things from other countries, not wine. The only thing I ordered to digest was candy. Check with your postal and see regulations and laws to know exactly what and how much you can order. We have winery's here and also wine stores and speciality stores. All of these if they do not carry it will if asked check into getting it for you. Speciality or import stores carry international foods and drinks. Not sure how small of a town or county ordinance of where you live you might have to go to bigger town for these types of stores. Be careful when ordering and what country you order from. I have ordered from England, South Africa China and Australia and in all honesty either I have been lucky or something I have never had a problem with my orders. If ordering clothing remember to convert sizes to that countries sizing. wave

CuddlingSoul: I think some wines are already on the shelf at local locations. I've seen bottles of wine at Walmart that have been imported.

For table wine I do prefer the ones from Spain or Argentina or Chile. Their waine is good and reasonable priced.

Also if I do detect a good harvest -of a reasonable priced wine- I could buy some of the botles and put them to sleep for a year or several years an enjoy them later.

Walmart, Sam's and other stores have a wide selection of imported table wines and other alcoholic wines, even in my place. So in USA the selection must be even much wider.

hmmm

see that's what I want to do make a wine cellar and get it filled with international wine...so I'm talking quite a collection...None of the Walmarts or even grocery stores here in Oklahoma can sell wine or liquor in stores, just beer. At the liquor stores here they have a very small selection on imported wine, mainly just Arbor Mist and the such...I might try and go to Oklahoma City or Tulsa this weekend and see what they might have or maybe know how to go about getting some...

The certification of the Origin for wine in Europe and all the protocol that goes within makes many countries not eligible for it. Therefore, countries like Chile, USA, Argentina, Mexico –we could discuss this latter-, and other countries are looking at other factors –price and quality- to stay in the wine market.

USA is making good wines to appeal the consumers’ taste rather than to comply with the protocol for wine producing like in Europe.

Myself I do not care “much” about the certification of the origin of the wine if the –table- wine is good to my taste and its price is reasonable.

Although, I do have a couple of bottles of French wine which are 15 and 18 y.o.. I got them as a present, recently. And I am planning to open them very soon, because life is very soon!
