Pom's question is a valid one. Many compliments sound shallow and used up. That's one thing, but the other problem can also be experience. We come to judgements based on experiences made, and it is very very tough to remain objective and treat every new encounter with the fairness it in truth deserves.
If you were bitten by dogs over and over - you more than likely will come to fear dogs and expect to get bitten, while maybe you were just really unlucky and only met the wrong dogs. Is though how we work. Takes a lot to remain open minded and give each new dog a chance in its own right.
