However, I'm quite shocked by some of the posts I've seen on the Irish forum, particularly from men. Reading the forum as an outsider, the overall impression is of gender-bashing nastiness. And I don't understand why since the women on the forum are on the whole charming, smart and generous in their responses. Perhaps you can shed some light on this?

But what I've found out there is a couple of women in Ireland sending barely solicited mails to foreign women making sweeping generalisations (bad) about Irish men. One of them even got her mail published on the blogs.
As I have always said... the men with their issues, 'vitriol' if you want to call it are more public... the women do it by mail. It's about the same though I bet in measure.
But if you're going to downgrade Irishmen you'll find me and a few others might take exception to it.
And just for balance, the last time a foreigner (Croatian) came in here (this forum) and slagged off Irish women, it was the men here that tore him a new arsehole.

I'm glad to hear it. Pity I've seen nothing of the like since I joined, it would probably renew my faith. All I've seen is a shocking hatred of women on here. Very sad.

I can only guess that you're referring to the two gentlemen from Cork who raise various gender issues and any of the others of us that jump on board for the laugh.... I'm partly guilty of having a laugh on their backs, but I don't start it.
