Suicide_Mission: so you mean Queen Elizabeth II, or in Scotland Queen Elizabeth I, as they do not recognize QE I, as Mary was the Scottish Queen at the time...like the history lesson?

Queen Elizabeth 11 is the Queen of Great Britain, which includes Scotland , burke.

JeanKimberley: my family roots are from the Scottish borders - I understand a little bit about the history of folks that experienced a civil war for 400 years - and it was very much about recognition of who has the right to rule and ..... religion.

However, that said, Canada's rules are not UK's rules, or Irelands rules or in fact something coming in Scotland this year.
okay but why is that funny?

sophiasummer: I found an old small picture' black and white picture of my grand mother. I took it to a place and had it blown up to 10x its size, its beautiful she was 9 years old, on an old chair holding a doll.
She has the most amazing hair! All curley, and all things around her. Has any one done that too? I gave it to her for a Christmas present framed.
She forgets things now and again.
yes,miss them,last one passed,in 1999.moms mom/rip.

You are the burke.

Margaret Tudor was the daughter of Henry VII of England and sister to the infamous Henry VIII, whon in his turn was the father of Elizabeth I. This is how the coplex intermarriage between English and Scottish royalty brought about the Union of the Crowns in 1603. James VI was declared James I of England and the Stuart dynasty took control of the whole of the British Isles. For the next 104 years the Stuart monarchs ruled Britain as seperate countries, until the last Stuart, Queen Anne. Anne was the last person who was legally the Queen of England, and the last person to legally be Queen of Scotland, for in 1707 she gave her assent to the Union of the Parliaments of England and Scotland which thus abolished England and Scotland as independant nations to form one nation, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (now Northenr Ireland). To this day the same constitution applies and so there is no monarch of England or Scotland, only a King or Queen of Great Britain.

JeanKimberley: The laugh was for your initial comment.
"When Elizabeth II was crowned there was an outcry in Scotland because she was the first Elizabeth to rule Scotland. When Elizabeth I was on the throne their ruler was Mary Queen of Scots. Some early E II R pillar boxes were trashed in Scotland. Winston Churchill, who was Prime Minister in 1953, laid down a convention saying that from then on all future would be uniformly numbered according either an English or Scottish reckoning, whichever was higher."
