Freedomofspeech9: You are very much entitled to have a alternative view to the thread I wrote and if you wish to express your love for cliques then do so, but don't try and say I am wrong by express my individual opinion or attack anybody else who happens to agree with that opinion just because you don't.
Charity fund raisers are not part of a clique, because they are all working for the greater good for a charity and are always accepting of others help or ideas, but cliques or should I say 'gangs' are run by self serving individuals who are only looking out for themselves and nothing or nobody else.
That appears to be a defensive response for someone who's user name includes the words 'freedom of speech' and who advocates individuality of thought and response.
I wonder at you protecting those who agree with you, but not my viewpoint on your thread about individuality verses group opinion.
Where did I say in any of my posts 'my love of cliques'? Where did I say you were 'wrong'? How am I 'attacking' anyone by expressing my thoughts?
The Oxford Dictionary defines a clique as 'a small close-knit group of people who do not readily allow others to join them'. That could refer to to people who work together, families, all sorts of groups whose doors are not open to anyone. The meanness, ignorance and stupidity, etc. are your interpretations.

Excuse me but did you not read a lady's interpretation of cliques and other members interpretations of cliques that mirrored my own you may quote from the dictionary all you want, but we all know what this thread is about and perhaps your ignorance or love for gangs/cliques is over showering your judgement to create a legitimate argument to oppose the factual argument I have produced.

Freedomofspeech9: What is a clique and why do they exist?
A clique is group of people who are in a close nit group and are not excepting of others or their ideas.
Cliques exist because one self serving person manages to influence other folks into their way of thinking and if they want them to ignore other folks they will do so, because they do not wish to be out of favour with the leader or the other members of the clique.
Cliques are very bad news and individuality or courage is not something those members have, but meanness, ignorance and outright stupidity underlines the mindset of a clique.
My view on individuality is that one is free to think for themselves, make one’s own decisions without outside influences and be accepting of others or their opinions.
I have always made my own decisions, will not be influenced by what others think and will always be my own man!
are you a follower or are you a individual?
Why does everything has to be VS?
Why not?
Individuality + Cliqué (for the ones that choose it).

I see a pattern of favouring group opinion when people follow your lead, but disliking it when people don't.

I don't know, simple use of the word "clique" is manipulating the group into agreeing with you. If I were to say a group of cool people harmoniously relating instead of the word "clique", and then "freakish outlier" instead of the word "individual" then most of the group would agree with cool.
The point being that it's unrealistic to expect the majority to think, scratch that, it's not even desirable for them to do so. Where would Humanity be today if it wasn't for the great men & minds of history leading and organising the Human race into a brighter future? I'll give you a clue, it involves dying at 43 with rotten teeth whilst lying in a puddle of your own piss.

montemonte: I don't have the need to be in a clique or in any group.
I'm too outspoken to box myself in with people who would expect me to agree with them all the time. That would be a nightmare for me.
In fact I have always been the black sheep at work because I don't take part in gossiping
Yes it maybe harder to not just go along with everything a group of people say, but you are being an individual who is able to make her own judgements on people and express her own opinions without others influencing you

Freedomofspeech9: Jac, Nobody is following my lead as you put it, but you forget that we are of opposing opinions and your tactics to undermine my argument have failed
I see I'm being dismissed for not adhering to the ethos of your clique.
Freedomofspeech9, what's your opinion about adult bullying or members harrassing other members just trying to drive them off the site or to get their goat.

CC, Bulling of any kind is wrong and it happens online, offline, to children, adults alike.
Harassment of other members is wrong and if anybody is victim of that they can contact me by mail if they need to chat
