What are some of the things that really matter in giving/receiving from your future partner, the little things desired to have a sustainable, loving and lasting relationship? Just generalization not necessarily personal. Kind of curious the things that matter to women and to men, but not a competition in any way. I hope this makes sense, if it has been visited before, forgive me, and we can just ignore it.
I don't remember when or why being carefree in relationships ended in my life, but I do remember a time when just being together was the only thing that mattered: I'm sure those were the times when I was in my teens and twenties. Now, it seems that practicalities are more important than letting the heart indulge in careless romance. I'm wanting to say something like: A planned stable partnership, that includes really being able to see continued building and togetherness in the future.

Simple, but so thoughtful, acts of kindness - being out in the garden, some rain starts to fall, and then to my surprise - my husband standing next to me holding an umbrella over my head....

Attentiveness(the feeling he gives me like I am the only woman he wants and will ever want), making a noticeable effort in developing something lasting and it not just about being a one-way street(putting himself out occasionally just for me), random acts of spontaneous gestures(eg placing his arms round my waist for a cuddle and neck smooch whilst I'm at the kitchen sink), being romantic(without losing his masculinity), the ability to laugh at himself and the world....and together.
Not having to settle picking up "crumbs" which may happen to fall my way.
Wow..I did all those you describe, to someone and still didn't worked out.-
