Carmengetme: That was my echo....painful as it was...

Yeah, you don't strike me as a guy who would be shy, just from what I've read of your posts.

I got over it too.

I remember, when I was a kid, hiding underneath my Mum's dress....OMG...

hahaaha i was quite shy...hmmm, maybe reserved more, i never hid underneath my mum's dress though... wow laugh

but i got told when i got left at school i ran back after my mum
it's a dark scary place in there ! laugh

I stood there holding ol' Mrs Johnson's hand, bawling my eyes out, crying out for Mum.

argenankee: Carmengetme,

How astute do do think you are at deciphering the difference? Males can be quite conniving and deceptive. Female also?(tic).

Good point.

I rely on my intuition.

Works well for me.

Intuition; an excellent trait, not only a female trait as so presumed BTW.

Or, they have demons in their closet they wish to not divulge. It can go both ways. As I stated earlier...extroverted is, and introverted is. What suites your personal preference? FWIW to you folks for me extroverted, i.e.; aggressive, assertive, opinionated, strong(mind and soul), expressive, let's shake-rattle-and-roll! So much is about personality for me...are you jiggy-wit-it?

In response to: What is the best way to handle someone who is extremely quiet on dates/in social situations?

Have you ever dated someone who barely spoke?

Get them drunk or get drunk yourself.

But being honest I don't think I've ever met a genuinely quiet woman. If she is quiet then she's just shy and she'll be a motormouth like the rest of them with the right encouragement and I can be very disarming with woman for reasons unknown. In any case, I'm used to being the more... verbally spartan(not to say shy or quiet)one on a date which suits me because I have to obscure at least 90% of my thoughts to fit in with the rest of the Human race.

And I find it works best. A woman wants to provide the thrust of the conversation(mostly focused upon herself)and my job is to springboard what she says onto interesting and curious avenues. Perhaps 75% of all the words spoken on this planet come from the mouth of a woman, and the male quality is to listen and sift through all the garbage and develop upon whatever she says that is the least banal.

The "best" way can be tricky because it depends on many aspects - chemistry, how long you have known each other, common interests, etc.

Yes, I have dated a few quiet guys. For me, it is better than dating someone who never stops talking. I don't mind silence... Besides, I like to speak in ways other than verbally.
