Nidifugous: I was banned from a thread because the thread owner didn't get my joke/sarcasm and then, to put the icing on the cake, implied in a post I sent him personal mail, which I never did.
This seems to happen quite often around here because others have written about the problem in the blogs.
What's the best way to deal with such things?
Ignore and move on? Write a thread about it? Ban that user from all of your own threads? Send that person personal mail and try to explain a misunderstanding? Write about it in a blog?

The first thing you gotta do is hunt down where they live. If they have a cat you kidnap that, then what about posting them a whisker and a bit of ear?
I have a dry sense of humor. but sometimes people misunderstand and I have been banned for most sites because of it. don't do head-to-head with moderators and don't do a thread about it. it would help to send a email to the moderator but try to understand why he/she found offensive. then learn from it.

depends on how one would deal with misunderstandings in real life, the same rule may apply in virtual life my experience on here was my "text" had to be analyzed in a "middle eastern" context most of times. so I log in rarely
