Also, its a big resource for the govt to cater for.
Most importantly...they look after you when you was younger....you look after them when they are old...then your children carries on the tradition with out breaking the chain.
Basically...our parents hold on to our hand, we hold on to theirs
I looked after my dad and will be looking after my mother when the time arises.
I will for my own parents, and there are 4 of us kids to share the burden so it won't be too bad. Plus I actually like my parents despite all the constant criticism I aim at the Baby Boomers.
Talking of which what will become of the greying Babies seen as they've had so few children and left the economy in such a bankrupt state? Politically I will push to provide for them through the state although many of my generation will be wholly prepared to let them all starve.
However, I vow here and now to lord it over you. I will make it my business to remind of how much debt they've left us in, what a shambles they made of the economy, to thank them for sending all the real jobs to china and for flooding the country with hostiles whilst denigrating every single wholesome aspect of our society from the church, to education to the community itself. I will make them dream of being euthanised!
Years ago I worked in two different nursing homes and would hear from the nurses on how some adult children would just dump their parents there and never return to see them.
The irreponsible,responsibility by their children..
And when asked, the reply is. "I have my parents in good hands in the nursing home"", Failing to admit, that, haven't got to visit them for years.-

My mother is at a (good) nursing home and as long as she lives, I try to visit her as often as I can. I think she gets a better care (with skilled staff) there, than I'd be able to provide.
My daughter can't wait to look after me..........she's always looking for signs of me slowing down. Don't think she'll think quite the same if I do go ga-ga though. Ah well.......if I do, I won't even realise........see...there's a blessing in everything!!!!
Have you ever tried to asked her,if she needs to see you and talk to you,"""more often than you can"""????
