Somewhere I read "There are as many religions as there are people". That rings true, to me, because spirituality is a very personal, individual aspect of life, it is superfluous to try and categorize it into 'sects', 'groups', 'movements', etc... Myself, I do belong to a mainstream church, and am content enough, but there are many things about the rhetoric, liturgy that seem cookie-cut for humanity, and I just don't believe you can do that, not effectively, anyway. Everyone has a supremely different path, and in my opinion, that is as it was designed to be. The God I know and believe in wants it that way. (If fields were full of nothing but flowers, then a single weed would be a thing of beauty). *

* although hundreds of daffodils are STILL gorgeous, to me!flower

123whisper: Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997) a Catholic nun, Missionarie of Charity, dedicated to the service of the poorest of the poor is one of example that religion can be promote in loving way towards humanity.

Actually when she wanted to teach the children how to read and write, her bosses didn't help her at all, she herself got the things she needed to teach. The religious bosses did nothing to help her out. They wanted the kids ignorant so they can control them better.

Saints should always be judged guilty until they are proved innocent; conversing

Singular... From a Christian view, yes... Believing in God is ultimately spiritual and after this earthly body has pasted, it's time to meet the maker as they say. Won't meet God as part of a group or crowd. Being a member of a religion or church won't save anyone, but knowing and believing in Jesus will.

Bluefish22: Can we not all start to feel inclusive?
Inclusive meaning chop down all those barriers of fear you've built up over the years from childhood. Anybody different you must be wary of. Get rid of it. We are all one blood, one universal spirit that we are all part of.

The sooner we take responsibility for our own religion and decide what we believe ourselves, and not what we have been forcefed, the sooner we will all commune in our own way to a universal nurturing.

What say you?
