Rumples: The streetwise know that the poverty-crime link is predominantly caused by a lack of excitement in working class life, not hunger.

I use the word excitement here, but you could use the word purpose, fulfillment or meaning only you'd use the word excitement if you were actually talking to the people I'm talking about.

No it wont work! it is within the time frame that it is a known fact that school murder is planned.
Its a smoking gun to have an arsenal bolted to any school, that it is, an added ploy to the empty mindless person/persons that will give them another play game as in the terrible bolt holes that massacre games search for.

Its a screaming blood thirsty realm arising, with no conscience.
Brewing in a town near anyone.

And its creeps silently.

Rumples: The locks are do-able now, surely? Or go one further and have guns which can only fire in the hands of selected personnel. These are not beyond our technology or our expense.

Yet it's going to be a while until we see robocop, though not as much of a while as some may think.

I agree, locks are do-able but it still doesn't seem logical to have guns on campus and I also agree regarding robocop.thumbs up

We take civilisation for granted and we don't even know what a bad guy with a gun looks like unless it's on TV. No one in Europe could deny that living in a land without guns all over the place is an immensely wonderful thing, but America - particularly in the southern states - is not Europe.

Rumples: A bit of a joke that suggestion, Frisky, as was the school bell doubling as a sonic weapon.

But these are jokes which warn of a serious danger. The danger of traumatising or damaging your kids whilst trying to protect them.

I kinda thought so, especially when you mentioned the "sonic weapon", lol.

I feel horrible for the children of this generation. The things (crimes) a lot of children have experienced or been exposed to is traumatizing to adults, not to mention the children. When I was young, I'm 47 now, I never heard such things as I have within the past few years. The crimes seem to be more heinous (sp?) and only getting worse.

Friskyone: Due to all the school shootings around the U.S., a school in Los Alamos, New Mexico MAY soon be keeping a gun/guns hidden in a locked safe on campus.

For those who agree with this say it will give officer's a quicker response time should there be a shooting on the campus, other's who are against it say that the student's will know within one month, the secret location of the gun/guns.

What is your opinion? Should guns be allowed on school campuses?

I don't think it's a good idea, no. What is needed is to prevent someone showing up with a gun, not additional guns in the environment. I can't see how a cache of weapons in a freakin' SCHOOL is going to prevent anything. The damage would be done by the time the Cowboys got to the guns anyway

Prevention is the answer, but as in most things where prevention is the answer, most Americans are loathe to embrace that. It's like a cultural weakness.

( and I have no problem with legal citizen gun ownership BTW. I just don't like this particular idea).
