PHAENOMENA, TRANSLATED BY G. R. MAIR

From Zeus let us begin; him do we mortals never leave unnamed; full of Zeus are all the streets and all the market-places of men; full is the sea and the havens thereof; always we all have need of Zeus. For we are also his offspring; and he in his kindness unto men giveth favourable signs and wakeneth the people to work, reminding them of livelihood. He tells what time the soil is best for the labour of the ox and for the mattock, and what time the seasons are favourable both for the planting of trees and for casting all manner of seeds. For himself it was who set the signs in heaven, and marked out the constellations, and for the year devised what stars chiefly should give to men right signs of the seasons, to the end that all things might grow unfailingly. Wherefore him do men ever worship first and last. Hail, O Father, mighty marvel, mighty blessing unto men. Hail to thee and to the Elder Race! Hail, ye Muses, right kindly, every one! But for me, too, in answer to my prayer direct all my lay, even as is meet, to tell the stars.

No doubt people will think I've gone beyond The Bible by posting, Aratus, Phaenomena: a poem glorifying Zeus.

They may even think I'm a heathen; but Jesus is Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Jesus is The Lord.

It was God who made us not understand eachother.

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
Genesis 11:9

There's lots of languages, but only one God.

I posted Phaenomena; because Paul quoted it in Acts 17:28.

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Acts 17:28

I've noticed in all your god posts you say you want to talk about the thread topic.

In fact, I noticed you just want to paste about the thread topic.

Pasting scripture to prove scripture - now that's the way to argue ones case.

Feel free to block me again. After all, you can no longer burn me for being a heretic in the good old christian tradition.

I blocked you for being so far off topic; and I started this thread so that the topic wouldn't be so narrow; because I hate blocking people.

But as I look at your post, I notice you only came to mock and accuse me.

If you wanna talk about who or what God is to you, go for it.

I didn't block you for being a heretic.

I blocked you for being an a**hole.

And if you just want to accuse me, or anybody else on this thread, I'll block you again.

From times immemorial people had to believe in phaenomena surround them and attributed to to God/s.
God's blessing or ruth, has nothing to do, with Zeus regarded as God,or any God for that matter.

Zeus, Odin and God are all fictional characters, created by man to make good stories, not to be taken seriously, or should one pay homage to the Nancy Drew stories or Huckleberry hound?

That's a dogmatic superstitious belief; written about by superstitious and dogmatic people, and isn't an original thought at all.

And, you can't prove what you just said is true.

Your welcome to your beliefs...

But I don't take you seriously, nor will I pay homage to an idea that's so common, that I just dealt with it two times in a row: knowing you can't prove what you just said.

I have no need to prove anything, you made a statement, therefore it is up to you to back it up with credible proof, but you can't, it is impossible to prove who or even why the Bible was written.

In 2000 odd years not one shred of evidence has ever been produced to say that the Bible, Quran, Toyah or any other "religious book" were the actual words of God.
Those books were used by religious leaders under the premise that if a lie is repeated enough, then eventually the masses will believe it. like saying Obama is a muslim, repeated so often that the easily lead and gullible believe it's true. But in both cases a lie still remains a lie.

Prove the Bible was written by God and I promise to listen.

The fact that you can't prove what you said, and won't even try, is enough for me.

Religious beliefs are based on faith, without proof.

Religious beliefs that deny the existence of God are based on faith too, and can't be proven either.

That's why people who claim there is no God, can't bear the burden of proof.

I'm not gonna do another thread on how "atheists" don't exist, and make people who want to prove they do, bear the burden of proof.

I did that here already, years ago. The thread maxed out, with nobody proving "atheists" exist: and people admitted after trying, You can't prove a belief.

I'm really tired of debating.

I might ask you to prove your point if I know you can't...

But that's just to point out that religious beliefs are based on faith, whether you claim to believe in God or not.

I don't plan on pushing the point.

I'm here to share what I learned from years of study; and I'm here to share my religious beliefs; but not argue about them.

I have scriptures, poems and legends from around the globe to back my belief that Jesus is Lord of all; but, I won't claim to prove something that requires faith in what we can't see.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

You think you can speak for every person around the world who has no belief in your God, wow, that is some ego. And I can assure that from my point of view, the truth would not be a burden, it would merely mean I need to rethink things.

Some people get so buried in their own world of discovery that they fail to see the whole picture, especially views that do not agree with their own agenda.

To be a good debater, does not require a full knowledge of your chosen subject, it requires a knowledge of both sides of the topic. AND SO FAR ALL I SEE IS A VERY ONE SIDED OPINION!
