Why and When in the 20th Century did we start dressing comfortable?


I think it is about freedoms and a matter of practicality. Even the U.S. military wears khakis.

Speaking as an American overseas, Galrad, this looks like another thread to draw fire with...

Dressing "comfortable" - I'm comfortable in heels and a skirt. Love dressing as a woman.

"Freedoms" - well, this one is hilarious. Yes, we have freedoms - compared to those who live and abide by the teachers of a certain prophet.
Certain Christian denominations insist that women only wear dresses. This is based on the scripture that "women should not wear that which pertains to a man".... which if they really, truly understood the text it means to use weapons as a man does. Hence, the women who killed the enemy used a tent stake and a mill stone.
They certainly obtained their "freedom".

Matter of practicality? Americans have an exorbitant amount of clothes compared to other countries. And in my opinion, it's all cheap cr^p!

Then throw in the monstrous size of Americans and you have even more fabric and materials being used. It's disgraceful!

Russians are known for wearing sweat clothes when in public. It's seen as poor taste and as if they are saying, "We don't have to work in an office." It's seen as being rude in the face of the locals.

Other countries just laugh at American's lack of sense of style.

There is a certain dignity that comes when dressing nicely. In fact, the body releases different hormones (pheremones) when we take the time to dress up and look nice.

It's a question of what do you want to attract???
