KarloradoFL: Once in a while I see a mother black bear and her 2 cubs getting into my neighbors garbage can and strewing it across my lawn at night. I put my food scraps into empty pickle jars so the bears don't get into it. They have a very strong sense of smell.
I don't have bears close to me, but on the west side of I-25, they have bears, I saw one in Manitou Springs going through a trash can, we made some noise and it took off, I couldn't believe how fast it ran... faster than a human... uh oh ... laugh

Black bear. Generally nothing to worry about but the 1 to 3 year olds have less fear and if you have a dog with you it may want to check it out for a meal. As soon as I see a bear I go after it. so far they ran but you need to read them a bit. They may not run far enough right away.Good Lucklaugh I chased a nice 500 pounder once. He was just curiousthumbs up and a good actorlaugh
