uh oh
This might first sound like a whacky thread, but bear with me and read on because I want to find anyone else in the same boat (so to speak) as all the fuss about lack of dentists or bad teeth could be nothing to really worry about!

So here goes....
Back in 2018 there was a huge surplus of Christmas mince pies in my local supermarket and the price then crashed 80% possibly in order that they could clear them in time before the New Year began.

Anyway, after buying a few packs (each containing 6 individual mince pies!) it became very apparent that consuming so many before the expiry dates came into effect was not very wise or healthy and so I experimented freezing an entire box to see (after defrosting naturally) if they still tasted ok.

The answer was YES! and so bulk bought about 10 further boxes, 8 of which went directly into the freezer.

Time passed and so the stock of mince pies reduced but carried on well into the New Year....however the sugar level warning label (being RED!) showed of the possible hazard, and later I found certainly to teeth, as one of my left side lower molars began to discolour in the centre and despite much frantic brushing it wasn't looking like it was ever going to be the same again.
moping
Indeed not, as a couple of months later the rot had really set in, and a large cavity started to appear with the realisation that it was highly likely the tooth was wrecked.
violin
Surely enough, while eating something (cannot recall what) there was a sudden crackup and the entire molar came away.... quite a painful moment and now the tooth was totally gone leaving only a very painful gum, and now a large gap between the other teeth!

Oh dear, too many mince pies and now -1 tooth help
What to do?
Fortunately I've looked after my teeth well, have no cavities or any other problems, so one now gone wasn't really too much of a worry.
The only downside was eating any hard food on that side was virtually impossible so I could only in effect chew one-sided!

In 2019 Covid started and everything then shut down, so no chance of getting any dental work done or even to check how bad it actually was.

Now here's the interesting bit, because already a very strange thing has begun to occur.
The molar is regrowing
wow
Yes, the impossible seems to be happening... because it's often said that teeth cannot ever repair themselves and so once lost, they're gone.

So how is this rotten one regrowing?
There are sharp toothy sides coming up from the gum, and it's even possible to chew hard food again on that side now, because the soft what was the rotted away center of the tooth is no longer raw and gummy but hardening.

I looked up online and apart from a few articles about 'miracle cures' to regrow teeth (!) it would appear that indeed some people ARE finding their previous cavities (that were not 'fixed' by any dentist) are actually being repaired..... by their own body!

So, to ask you...
Have you had a recent or maybe long cavity that was not treated by anyone and has it got better and begun to heal all by itself?

dancing
I would be grateful for anyone worldwide responding as this is quite an amazing subject IF indeed the human body can regenerate teeth again.

One's body repairs many things when damaged, so why not teeth too?
thumbs up

well, I was 28 and I discovered one of my teeth was loose. So I went to the dentist and he just used pliers to pull it out, saying it still was a milk tooth. (not sure if that is the good translation, but it's the teeth and molars you get as a child and that will change during your youth).
I was very surprised, how can it be that I had still one of the tooth from my youth?
Last time I saw a dentist was in 2002, we had a different oppinion, so I left never to return. Sometimes I feel a little ache in my tooth or molars, but after a couple of days the pain is gone. So, unless it is really necessary, I won't go to a dentist anymore. Saves a lot of money and if I keep saving money, the bill that time won't be a problem.

thumbs up thanks for that.

I trawled the net for about an hour now on this weird teeth renewal subject.

First up was researchers at King's College London found that the Alzheimer's drug Tideglusib stimulates the stem cells contained in the pulp of teeth so that they generate new dentine the mineralised material under the enamel which makes teeth grow back.

Found quite a lot of stuff (most promoting various products to 'restore' teeth!) however this video was one that caught my eye, as it wasn't trying to sell anything!

It seems from researching this, there IS natural teeth care and repair which dentists don't really tell anyone!!
I'm not on any special diet, just still eating loads of sugar and generally considered 'bad' things, but the molar seems to be repairing itself?
Very odd.

Loads of 'how to stop cavities' (before they get really bad) but nothing how or why an entire molar which had rotted away is coming back again.
I wonder if the original could have been a milk tooth and now that has gone, another is appearing to replace it.

Anyway, the video that follows was quite a strange one to watch, but does give real life stories of teeth remineralising.
If you're a vegan and are suddenly having trouble with your teeth, or it's been a problem...... then the 'good food' items that are shown in the film just might help?

I had a dentist as a child (milk teeth) who would suggest a follow up appointment if he found a bit of decay to give the tooth a chance to repair itself before drilling and filling.

These days dentists don't necessarily drill and fill milk teeth, particularly if it's going to cause distress. They apply a flouride substance to halt the decay and that seems to repair a little, too.

The other thing I thought of is that when teeth are missing, the teeth above/below the gap tend to move and can eventually fall out with no pressure keeping them in place. Without pressure from the tooth above, is it possible that the root of your broken tooth is working it's way out?
