You are walking your dog on a frozen lake when you see a man you do not know who has fallen through the ice. Your dog runs over too him and also falls in. You only have time to save one of them, which do you save?

well that is a tough one.. cause i love animals.. expecially if it was my animal.. but the value of a human life weather i knew the person or not is also important.. i guess i'd have to save the man after all .. if my dog fell in trying to save him then he must be worth saving.. and my dog would not die for nothing.. but he would be missed

I would save the man. My dogs death would sadden me and perhaps some members of my imediate family. The mans death would affect children, spouse, friends, parents, co-workers...and on and on. I would never be able to live with myself knowing I could have avoided hurting that many people just to avoid feeling a loss myself.

Here is a good one I heard in a college class.

If your house was burning down and you had $100,000 stored away and you only had time to save the money or the pet which one would you save?

I would hope the house and all of its contents would be insured. I don't know if you can insure cash, though. But I suppose you could embellish on the worth of your other assets. Shhh...I didn't just say that...I used to be in insurance defense law. LOL..

uh oh dancing

Well, I know better than to put a dish towel too close to the burner of a stove. If I am iin a rush and do that someday...I hope you aren't the one that walks past as my house is going up in flames and I am screaming out the window.

Canadian Banks insure up to 60,000 per bank. i split my cash up at different institutions. Thats where its safest. Leaving cash in a home is silly IMO>mabye a few hundred bucks but thousands, not i. So this would never be a dilema for me.

I don't think you can insure you would probably have to pay penalities for not paying taxes on it though.
