"Every day and twice on Sunday(s)” is a saying that has been used in several ways. The first citations involve Christian prayer. “Preaching once every Day (twice on Sundays)” was printed in The South-Carolina Gazette (Charleston, SC) on December 8, 1746. “Divine service is performed on board every day, and twice on Sunday” was printed in the Jackson’s Oxford Journal (Oxford, UK) on August 22, 1795.
KarloradoFL: I have no idea what twice on Sunday means but because I lived in Colorado, I know what a "fourteener" is and now in Florida what a "snowbird" is.
I don't know what they mean but I'm going back way over 15yrs now. On a site where we used to play music and chat. We were chatting about food etc....Some one mentioned eating at "Y's" I asked if it was a subsidiary of McDonalds or Burger King? I felt totally when my American friend told me what it meant The same with "Bearded Clams" I was so naive way back then

A fourteener is a mountain that is over 14 thousand feet above sea level. A snowbird is a person who lives in Florida in the winter months and moves up north on the summer months. Bearded clams could mean the beards on a clam that are the withered umbilical cords to baby clams that have since broken off or a womans hairy bush.

I have no idea what eating at the Y's is unless it's the YMCA. There is a restaurant chain in America that is lovingly called the VI. Village Inn.
