In a case of odd bedfellows, environmental groups and Republican politicians are calling for a pause in offshore wind farm development following a string of whales washing up dead on New Jersey and New York beaches.
Seven whales have turned up dead in little over a month. The latest victim, a 20- to 25-foot juvenile Humpback whale, turned up in Brigantine, New Jersey on Thursday afternoon, close to a Coast Guard station.
"The wave of dead whales is the ocean sounding the alarm, and we must heed the warning,” said Cindy Zipf, executive director of Jersey-based Clean Ocean Action, after the sixth whale washed up in Atlantic City on Jan. 7 with signs of head trauma. "[The wind farm development] is too much, too fast. It's outrageous and our ocean deserves better."
give it up. even though 77% of all rain fall is over the ocean and other major factors through out science and geology, the climate control freaks are thick.
those wind farms are part of the man made "green energy" lies. they must exist at all costs to kill any thing actually green and natural to provide us with "electricity". never mind that they're also controlled or even destroyed by the very weather we can't control.
so the whales, nature, and other wild life have to suffer our, bestowed, consequences even more.
I used to follow this conservative show dog owner in Calgary. She pointed out that wind farms don't work in sub zero weather. I have also seen the many pictures of abandoned wind farms across the country from the seventies. Funny thing I knew this failing cult leader Physicist who was designing a new windmill. This was the early eighties. Please don't include me with the PDD, Poor Deluded dupes.

it is pretty horrible watching what we do to ourselves, against nature, and wild life, while hypocritically claiming to be "saving the planet". or worse still, fighting "climate change".
many factors involved that aren't talked about as we move away from reliable and abundant, to UNreliable and damaging.
Wind farm turbines can disturb the sonars whales navigate through. The vibrations and noise can cause disorientation and even injure them. It had happened before in different places of the world. Wind farms are known to kill thousands of birds, bat's and insects. But I'm guessing these seven whales are vuctims of a busy traffic and they have inhaled too much CO2...

Sad but true and we in the U.K. are guilty as charged being second to China in having the most wind farms.
Damned if we do and damned if we don't kind of situation.
Anyway it's not all doom and gloom, if people here say it's bad then there's probably a bounty of marine life down there thanks to wind turbines. If the death force says it's bad, it might actually be really good.

No I get you can't make an omelette without braking a few eggs. And until this I always was certian wind parks at sea was IT! as we didn't have to see the monsters. Now, this was a little setback (humpback lol). I suppose a few dead large ones is ok price for a cleaner everything. Only we must keep an eye on it so the problem can be "kept at bay"

Whaling for profit was banned in 1986. But, reluctant to give up the market for whale meat and products, Japan, Iceland and Norway continue to hunt and kill whales every year.
What happens in the Faroes every year is appalling also.
Let's lose a few Oranguntans to make way for Palm farms.
We must have some kind of balance in our World or we will end up destroying it.

Are you informing the whole world...?? This site's reach is Not quite there yet...!!!
You were not a tad bit facetious but purely arrogant in your previous post and you know it. The sonar damage can result in death easily because whales can not navigate their ways. Not every sea creature's body wash up at shores for people to encounter and calculate for the statistics. Wind farms are harmful for way too many wild life creatures. And it is a fact that somehow is put on a side. My family owns 80 000 m2 of land in the most "virgin" front coast line in Bulgaria and we have been offered loads of money countless times to turn it into a wind farm. It has been proven it is the habitat for many endangered creatures and especially rare birds. Nobody wearing the label "Green energy" cares about it... Mooney speak louder every time. We have been refusing not only wind farms but even camping side projects on our land and as far as any of my family members live on this planet this place will remain the way it is now. How do I know? We all agreed to make this our will. Green energy is Greed energy, nothing more than that.

Why whales flee from sonar—sometimes to their death Study suggests the sound is loud enough to trigger same terror as caused by their most fearsome predators
Number of people killed while taking selfies TRIPLES after lockdown lifts, with most dying by falling or drowning during attempt to get the perfect snap of themselves
This is just one area east of San Francisco, but it’s ok be it makes liberals feel good
Same as here Ray
As wind energy has grown in popularity, reports of birds killed by wind turbines have become more common. Few studies have investigated the phenomenon, but estimates suggest that between 10,000 and 100,000 birds are killed by turbine blade strikes annually in the UK.
We should adopt the Norwegian idea and paint one of the wind turbines black as apparently it has cut down deaths by 70%
