Mercedes_00: Being buried or cremated doesn't appeal to me whilst alive so those two options certainly won't appeal to me when I'm dead
hi Merc me i just wanted to make things as easy as possible for sons when i pop my clogs. grin they live other ends of country so if ashes just split and delivered easy for them to have party and celebrate my life with them. Plenty of things come to mind for them to giggle over. Mum did this or that giggle
All paid for so costs them noting peace

I'm looking into eco burials. There are places in my state that do this. My choice is being buried, no coffin and a tree planted over my remains. The remains nourish the tree, land is set aside for this. Plaques are put at the tree so family members can visit the "grave" so to speak. I've always loved forests so this type of burial appeals to me.
There are many other forms of eco burials, one company in Oregon will compost your body to make fertilizer for the conservation of forests.
For Christians it makes sense as your body is going back to the elements of which that God made mankind.

EXRED3: How do you feel about no funeral just pure cremation ashes go to relatives who can scatter and have memories rather than see your box go through the curtains .????
My mum's wishes were to go straight to cremation just over a year ago. That was fine with my dad, my sister and I, except that I would have liked to have known where her ashes were scattered.

I'm hoping composting might be an eco-option in the UK before I pop my clogs, but failing that I'll go for donation to science, or going straight to cremation. My daughter won't want my ashes, but she might want to have some kind of humanist memorial.

Personally, I'd rather she, my son-in-law and the grandies spent the funeral expenses on an adventure, or activity based holiday. Spending money on death is wasted and I like the idea of my memorial being a life experience.

I’ve told my family to do whatever they want.
I think it’s more for the people that are left behind.
So I’m happy for them to make that decision when the time comes.

Yep my father said he wanted his ashes in a hole and a tree planted on that. The place i found that allowed that is now a forrest and cannot do anymore.

I think that is why i was always called a (tree Hugger)

Yes all choices are good from everyone i reckon.

Yep great idea. For me though i have always been in charge of my own life so wanted ashes scattered in the sea so i could keep on moving as in life i did. Of course i consulted my family and no objections from them. so went ahead and bought pure cremation bond as its called. teddybear

Wishing you all well and thanks for comments. lips
