Why just run? Why not do something about it? Seems they have the numbers in their favor, just not the backbone. Makes me sick.

Too many big guns in Iraq. Better to run and get out of there. wave also don't know who the enemy is.

I really don't understand the dynamics of the whole thing.
My daughter lives in Kuwait. She describes it as a civil
war and just let 'them' fight it out among themselves. We,
our government, I think, don't have a clue what would be the
best course of action. We should just stay out of it, protect
the borders and let them do their thing.

We are there so we might at least stay for a short time more.....see what can be done and get the hell out of there...Our babies are dying, so do it and get the hell out very soon. I don't think much will be fixed, I must conclude.

just read the headlines of the Times, i read it in the LA headlines....even with the surge the analysis was grim....

i'd be lookin at who kicked the hornets nest and started the swarm,

it does not take a rocket scientist to see the logic...whomever is closest to the hive will be stung the worst....you're sending your children....they were your future, i guess you saw no hope for them so sure let the military educate them and rewire them into someone you will never recognize again....send them out to "protect" you from the swarm....

what's wrong with this picture?doh

I think the question was why are the Iraqis running instead of dealing with it. I sure don't understand why they wouldn't just turn around and deal with their own trash. THEY DO KNOW who the enemy is, far better than the soldiers from other countries who are there fighting for them, because they are too cowardly perhaps? Or maybe just too lazy to do anything for themselves. Truth is, if they had dealt with the terrorists they claim to disapprove of so much, on their own, we wouldn't have ever been there in the first place.

Iraq s have hated each other for thousands of years. It just coming out now that the US upset the balance of power. We do not help the
situation by giving weapons to one side and not the other. I'm sure
whatever the US does other counties are helpping the other side. But
the Irags in general have a common enemy and it is US. Best not to
give them any weapons at all. Best not to be there at all.

Once again, not one Iraqi was involved in 9/11. Iraq became a target of convenience for Bush. Oil and votes just after 9/11.

Again, ideology will never be changed at gun point. Reverse the situation, imagine an army of Iraqis in every US city telling you that you must see the light and follow Islam. Would you ? NO.

I think the complexities surrounding 911 are much too
complicated for any one person to surmise. I don't
begin to know what lies beneath it all.

But, yes, I
do agree that we don't just go into another country and
tell them it's in their best interest to conform to a
democracy or what religion is best or what tribe to belong
to. Their ways are, of course, very different from ours
because the region is harsh and what they deal with is
entirely foreign to us.

In 1985 there were seven Afghan mujahideen parties fighting against the Soviet and Democratic Republic of Afghanistan forces in the Soviet-Afghan War. They fell into two categories, the fundamentalists: Islamic Party (Khalis), Islamic Party (Hekmatyar), Islamic Society (Rabbani), and Islamic Union for the Liberation of Afghanistan (Sayyaf), and the traditionalists: National Islamic Front for Afghanistan (Gailani), Afghanistan National Liberation Front (Mojaddedi), and Islamic Revolutionary Forces (Mohammadi). There are similarities in Iraq, many sects of Islam. Figure it out.

admire the knowledge shown here. handshake

It's beyond my ken. I may just go into the kitchen and
fix some spaghetti. Something I'm more familiar with. haha

At least I would do what I could and stand and fight for my home, not just run like a coward. I was raised to believe that if you don't stand up for yourself, no one else was going to do it for you. And I may be tiny, but I am a hell of a shot.

And I did not get the impression that the other countries are trying to force them to follow a certain religion, just to "behave" and stop killing people in general. It is all the different sects that are responsible for all the bloodshed between them. Has been going on a lot longer than our involvement has.
