RE: Fixing Cars and dealing with Mechanics

By now, any time I have to take my car in, I usually stay very close to it. When you see the drool coming out of the corner of their mouths, you know what they are thinking. I stick around to make sure it doesn't leave the shop for a "little ride in the hot rod".
I also use the way they think I am just a "dumb girl" against them. I didn't know they didn't want me back there looking over their shoulder. I didn't know they didn't like it when a "dumb girl" asked why they took that part out if there was nothing wrong with it. I didn't know they didn't like it when I called another mechanic and verified everything they were doing, as they were doing it, within full ear shot, and then telling them NO, that's wrong....hehehehe

RE: What does one dislike mostly concerning males???

That was silly. Only a very insecure, or hot to trot female, would have a negative reaction to a man acting like a gentleman.

RE: What does one dislike mostly concerning males???

What I dislike the most is that they think they can put their hands all over you before they even know you. I mean the first time you meet them, within the first few minutes, and its like having an octopus attack.
Then there are the real prizes that actually get mad when you exercise your right to your personal space LOL As if I care what they think about then.

RE: Promises

Anyone who knows me knows that if I make a promise I KEEP IT. They also know that yes means yes, no means no, and maybe can mean either when I make up my mind, and that I am very careful which one of the above I say.

RE: Parents...I need help!

Amen to that! Lots of sprains and such, so many so that I still have a very over stocked supply of ace bandages. Luckily, I never broke anything LOL

But I would say to let her excel at the pace she is comfortable with, don't hold her back just because of age. LOTS of people do better than "older" people, so they shouldn't be penalized for their age.

My daughter was a lot smarter than a kid on our block back when she was very small, but this punk tried throwing it in her face that he got to start school before her, because he was older. Took her in, had her tested, and he about blew all his baby chauvanist fuses when he found out she would be starting the same day he did, and had better scores hehehehehe

RE: Fixing Cars and dealing with Mechanics

For me, the worst thing about mechanics is that they take one look at me and think they can triple the price. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Worst thing any of them has done, take my car to the bar for a beer when he was supposed to be working on it. Happened to be driving by the tavern and saw my car in the lot. And do you believe that he actually complained about being left there when I went in and picked my keys up off the bar???

RE: ARE PEOPLE THAT REFUSE TO EXCEPT HONORS FROM THE QUEEN OUT OF ORDER ..AND SHOULD BE SENT TO PRISON ?

Just checked this thread because I have been known to tell people to piss off, even as they are trying to hand me an award/reward. But had to laugh at how you all seem to be as fed up with the queen as we are with Bush! Does anyone actually approve of the person who "leads" their country LOL?

RE: Who would you fight?

No one famous, at least in anyone'S but her own mind LOL It would be the wife of the bank president that lives across the street. The woman is the perfect example of a hypochristian, thinks she can pay her way into heaven, while she does the most horrific things to people. She is point blank evil, and I would love to wipe the pavement with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I frequently dream of tossing bricks through her window, especially after she put that elderly woman in the hospital.

LEMME AT ER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: If you had a second chance to use in life what would u used it for?

IF we knew then what we know now, I think that there would be at least something everyone would change the second time around. But if not, who says we would make the same mistakes.

RE: I know this question is kind of weird....

Yeah, I know this thread is silly because not all men of any country would be good or bad. But, since my ex is irish, and if he hadn't been my first, so I didn't know any better, I probably would have just laughed and left.
Other than that, can't really comment I guess LOL

RE: what's the 5 most interesting things that you've seen in this world and will never forget ?

Maybe not interesting to everyone, but these are the some of my strongest.

The black curls of hair on my son’s head when they laid him on my chest after he was born. Looked like the swirls you make when frosting a cake.

The way a newly hatched sea turtle will instinctively keep turning toward the sea and try to head for it no matter if you do turn it around the other way. (No, didn’t sit there torturing the thing, and helped it past the rough surf to get to the ocean.)

Didn’t see it, but hear my then 4 year old daughter smiling, over the phone, once during a seriously horrid family disaster, when she was many miles away.

The eyes of my one true love, when he was using them to tell me how much he loved me, didn’t have to say anything. (RIP C)

The the school gym exploding on the first day of desegregation, (literally, the bomb took out 2 full walls) and the shock of the kids who went to the school, then the hate rising against who had set it. Such hard looks on such young faces.

RE: do you believe in ghosts/spirits? and why?

Wow, uh, yeah. Witnesses, and I even have photographic proof something wierd goes on. Wouldn't label it, just won't be in denial (after so many "indicents") that "it" exists.

RE: what do you like about America?

No clue what cristina meant by “i like the screaming part!” But I do agree with quiescent and HonestNFaithful.

For me, I decided it was time to come home when my kid was at the stage of learning to read and write. Best to come back for her education.

BUT, while it may seem like a small thing to some, the best thing about coming home has always been the grocery stores!!! We love American grocery stores over all others. It is the food we are accustomed to, and a lot better quality and prices than a lot of other places. E.g. living in Washington apples are fresh, everywhere, year round, and you can find them for under a buck a pound. Go to other countries, and I have see them, but they were kinda soft (old) for $35.99 lb ! And yeah, I got tired of having to look things up to find out what they were and how to cook them hahahaha Not saying there isn't awesome food in other countries, just the general day to day is easier on your "home turf" I guess.

Guess I would also prefer to go to an American medical facility if any. Been to them in 3 other countries, and all 3 were scary, just plain scary.

RE: Why are women afraid of meeting somebody from another country? Is that so bad?

Any country that wants to charge $15.99 for a big chocolate bar is not going to be very popular with me LOL And those that don't even have rootbeer, well, the kids don't even want to go there (yeah, learned early to pack our own munchies) LOL
Seriously, when you are a picky eater this can be a problem. I know, sounds silly, but when you get stuck on cheese and cucumber sandwiches for 6 months, because everything else looks so disgusting and inedible, you don't forget. Sure, I try new stuff, but it was pretty embarrassing that time I got that piece of squid in my mouth, which felt like rubber cement, and when I tried to just spit it back out on the plate, that little rubberized piece of squid bounced up and hit the person sitting across from me.
He just thought it was funny but...

RE: Why are women afraid of meeting somebody from another country? Is that so bad?

Wierd. Don't even know why you would ask why people are afraid, because I don't think they are. I think it should have been "do people prefer" instead. Some of us simply prefer not to go to other countries any more, and fear has nothing to do with it. For me, it is a lot of the food overseas that deters me LOL

RE: For those of you divorced ...

Dandelion - I would definitely say it was an omen LOL

Karen - Now that was one tacky dude. Did the gf know it was used ? LOL

My ex went so far as to find someone that had everyone saying he went out and found someone who could be my twin, trying to "replace" me LOL Really gave our kid the creeps.

RE: Can we avoid of our presuppositions about other people or not?

After reading enough posts in these forums, and seeing how people jump to the worst conclusions a lot of the time, and not even knowing what they saw that made them take that leap, I agree that it does seem to be a trend these days to automatically think the worst. Bummer. I know that a few times I asked a question, just a question, and got jumped all over as though it was a sarcastic insult or something (WTF??)

I TRY not to. Even when I am driving, and some fool pulls a stunt that could have gotten a few cars in a fender bender, I try to wonder if they are:
bleeding
have a pregnant woman in labor in the car
anything to imagine a non horrible reason for why they did what they did. I TRY to not automatically just go into road rage, like some other people I know.
Same with what people say. If it sounded that bad, I ask them to repeat/verify that I actually heard what I thought, before getting mad or upset.

RE: have you ever policitically domestrated ? otr attend a domenstration?

RFLMAO, daddy always said I ought to be an activist. Have been organizing and participating in protests since I was a kid. In Junior High I got a few school employees fired for "locking us down" once, and found out it could actually be fun to bring down creeps hehehehe Doesn't even need to be a formal, organized demonstration for me to protest. Have been known to holler all the way from the balcony level, and called out the whole delegation (police, state legislature, etc) and told them they were full of crap and lying to these people, and telling them how to get themselves killed. Made them all look stupid and sheepish, and they had to stand there in front of that audience and admit that everything I said was TRUE. Yep, just little old me was the whole protest.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing But boy was I approached by people when the thing let out, mostly thanking me for saying something.

Yep, I call BS out for what it is every time I am faced with it, or see someone else that could be hurt by it, and never give a hoot whether or not I am politically correct. I just take the side that isn't out to hurt the other for no reason I guess. That is why my car has a SECURE OUR BORDERS sticker, and stuff like this

"L.A. hospital under fire after death in ER lobby"

really worries me. I think that we will be seeing even more and more incidents like this, and more people will die. Just another symptom of the over loading of our medical services by illegal immigrants.

RE: "Where were you, on..." No. 5

Flustered making travel arrangements. Found out what had happened when the ticket agent came on the line and said that everything was all jammed up since the incident, and I asked her what incident. She told me to turn on the TV (TV generally sucks so I don't watch it much) and there it was on every channel. Like most other people, had a pretty good idea of who was responsible, and that it would be turning into the mess that it has.

RE: Wine Drinkers Unite

Don't like to drink it, but make some the experts call excellent (and then buy out every bottle LOL). They have shown me what fingers and cascading is, but what the heck are nodes???

RE: do american people love people as much as british people do..? or do they just love money?

Lorraine – Sure got the intent of my post skewed beyond belief. Is English your first language?

Aircon – I have a few other words for the current “leadership” besides off-putting. Embarrassing, destructive, criminal, disgusting… Considering what Bush is pulling I really don’t see him as being any better than any other dictator. Has proven time and again that he has no interest in what the people in this country want, just what benefits him best. I am really get tired of the way that people actually think the majority of America agrees with or is anything like him. Can’t remember having any “representative” misrepresent this country as badly as he is.

Tinymac – What does “slauntie” mean?

Gilly – “…the jack daniels advertising campaign in london which is slowly beginning to reveal the southern way of life the mason dixy line…”

BEWARE of any kind of advertising, and don’t buy into it PLEASE. It is almost all PURE DRAMATIZATION to get your attention. Even we Americans are shocked and amused by the crazy stuff on TV (about our country and every other).

RE: Have you received mails like the above ???

I can't believe there is anyone out there that DOESN'T know about these scams by now. Anyone who doesn't, I would think they weren't internet savy enough to be allowed online rolling on the floor laughing

RE: do american people love people as much as british people do..? or do they just love money?

Ok, too funny. Constantly amazes me how foreigners forget they are just watching a movie (or do you believe that every Brit is another Benny Hill ?) These are fiction, completely dramatized for entertainment purposes. Even those “based on a true story” have a little bit of fine print saying that name, locations etc have been changed, and certain parts were created for dramatic affect.

Sure, our sucky govt may have left New Orleans hanging, but we had regular citizens from all over going down to help.

And as far as the Irish being the most loving, will NEVER believe that (sorry, but my ex’s family was very Irish, and just don’t even get me started). But seriously, I would have thought it would have been the Italians, if anyone. And different cultures show love in different ways, so who would really know “standing on the outside” of it and not even knowing what you are really seeing?

To a degree I think the remarks about the city being colder than the out lying areas, I think that concrete just makes people stupid. And where you find the most concrete, seems you also find the most greed, crime, …

Contact Senator Murray

There is a form on this webpage. I just used it to relay my disgust at her having voted for amnesty for the illegal immigrants. After reading a bit more about the proposed bill, and how these criminals are going to receive a lot more benefits etc than any American, just couldn't contain my contempt.

Told her if she wanted to advocate for those from another country over, and against, the legal ones in this one, go there instead of staying here trying to ruin ours.

RE: The People's Representatives have Spoken will he Listen?

Modify that to read
Bush will do what is best for HIM, and I would agree. Certainly has no interest in the country, or the average citizen.

RE: The People's Representatives have Spoken will he Listen?

I'm sorry, but does anyone believe that Bush even cares what the people want? I don't. Way too many examples of how he IGNORES what the people want. He might at least pretend to if he could run for office again, but I am getting the definite impression he is just "playing" out the rest of his term any way he wants.

I think it is about time we make some DEMANDS of our own

High, those last two posts look to me like things that Mexico has to fix for itself. They pretty much did it to themselves by the way they run things down there.

I think it is about time we make some DEMANDS of our own

Funguy – “It may be obvious by legal definition but in the real world you need to incorporate some sort of "sensitivity" to make society feasable.”
LOL Sorry, can’t agree. Save the kid gloves for fragile children. Why not just call things out for what they are? Politicians fluff things up to hide the truth, but I don’t see that as being productive.

Lion – “LOL...Well...Once they crossed the border illegally they broke Federal law. Then you have to take into consideration falsifying legal documents..etc... Much more serious than a speeding ticket....”
I am constantly amazed at how people try to minimize the damages these illegals are doing to our country. BIG difference between a speeding ticket and killing people on the roads, which they do FREQUENTLY!

Rwantin – “The people that complain the loudest are the ones that can't take care of their own yard or wash their own car.”
LOL, you actually believe that?
“Ugh.”
That was what I thought about your ludicrous post overall. As if kids don’t start working at 16, and often younger, but most don’t go to college until 18 or 19. Maybe yours sat on their butts and expected everything handed to them, but mine sure weren’t raised to be that lame. And why not place blame where it belongs. Not like we are blaming them for Iraq or something.

Cristina – “Damn, you are still here!

Start a new thread...something more LOL ok? ”

RFLMAO, I started this thread, and now you think you are going to chase me out, just too funny. But that does give pretty good insight as to why you think illegal immigrants should be allowed to chase Americans out of the U.S. Damn you’re a hoot! Your posts sure are good for a laugh.

Funguy – How can these ILLEGAL immigrants claim "We are no criminals" when they are by being here in the first place?
“Most of the illegal immigrants are law abiding people once they are in the U.S.”
Nope, they are perpetuating their crime by staying here, and numerous others in order to stay.
“They pay $7 billion of social security every year,”
Which doesn’t come close to the cost of those ID thefts and all that goes along with that. Were you aware that the people they stole from get charged for any income associated with their social security number as if they had earned the wages? Somebody ends up paying those taxes, guess who? And you think we should cry over them not getting a refund of some kind? NOT. I feel sorry for the victims.

High – “I think one must not have studied phobic manipulation of masses to understand what is happening –“
Might want to recheck the definitions on that little theory. Phobia is fear, and we aren’t afraid, we are fed up and ticked off. BIG difference. But then what would you know making your ludicrous judgments, sitting over there in Germany with no first hand information whatsoever. Makes about as much sense as me telling you to go clean up that pigsty of a house you have, when I don’t even know if you have a house, much less what the view is from your windows. It is those of you from other countries, who want to spout all your judgements, that have nothing to “reley on” (I am guessing you meant rely). Why not start a fantasy thread or something where you can make up anything that pleases you.

Iraq Officials to Push for U.S. Support

Sources for what? Knowing that people from other countries have a very erroneous idea of what it is to be and American and live in this country? LOL What they post in these forums is a very glaring example.

Iraq Officials to Push for U.S. Support

Ok, that was pretty funny stuff. Acting like we all back Bush, much less how he is handling this war, for instance. Hysterical.

"but then, might be hard to use and seperate facts from fiction... "

Especially when all you have to go on are skewed polls and statistics, via a very biased media. Nope, those in other countries don't really know what it is like to live here, much less be an American, but they sure like to pop off like they do. Guess you never even bothered to notice that I am against doing anything for/in that country, and think they should deal with it themselves, not just come sniveling for our aid while they are killing our people.

I also have to laugh at the very idea that we control the actions of the whole world. Yeah, they come here and work us for anything and everything, including education, weaponry, etc., and then use it for horrific purposes. What happened to personal accountability when you complain about how the weapons were used? Why not lay blame on the ones who used them? You may as well be saying that if you yourself found a gun in the street you would automatically use it to go on a killing spree.
