RE: Breakfast at McDonalds

Not to sound like a bible thumper (far from it) but, I do remember...
"What you do for the least of My brethren, you also do for Me."

RE: American Idol

It is amazing the way some of them stick around and try to argue it out, as if that is going to do them any good.confused
Also think it is funny the way the WORST of them do the most flipping out when refused.

RE: We women really do wanna be on time...

I know, sounds very stict, but hey, momma WAS!!! LOL
And no, I am not that harsh when waiting for other people. I usually give 15 minutes "grace" but not much more.

RE: Did you know Texans

LOL Sounds like someone needs to feed Mech. A lot of men get really crabby when they are hungry.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: OPINIONS

I don't think I am all that smart, but other people seem to. I have been paid. Rate was $100 an hour.

RE: We women really do wanna be on time...

Anyone with any kind of manners knows to be on time, if not early. Just plain rude to keep people waiting. Their time is just as valuable, if not more so, as yours. In my entire life, I have only been late for work once, and that was by 2 minutes. Still irked me LOL

RE: Breakfast at McDonalds

Just wondering if you noticed how the other people reacted to what you did. I do that stuff all the time, and actually feel sorry for the people who look at me like I am crazy or something. Guess they just don't get it, sucks for them eh?
But I have never heard this excellent expression...
"learn how to LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE."
Do you mind if I quote you?

RE: not in stores yet the latest contrived convenience gadget

I laugh every time I see a commercial for that "lap band" or the stomach stapling surgery. Never could understand how it could work. Supposed to make you eat less, or the contraption bursts, but those people have already proven they can't do that.

RE: HAS ANYONE EVER TAKEN

"When I have bosses that find out about my artwork, they have tried to get me to do things for them for the job."
LOL Boy can I relate to that. Once had a supervisor who tried tapping into every talent I had, and would get the stranges "miscellaneous duties". After having to cover for her at her charity meetings, run to DQ for sundaes, decorate the Christmas tree in the front lobby, creating graphics for her holiday newsletter to her family... as I was sitting there decorating the latest in a string of birthday cakes, I just couldn't take it any more, and asked her to please show me where any of these things were listed in my job description. Her response was, "but, but, you have always done such an excellent job at anything I have ever given you.." "Uh, but this ISN'T my JOB." I just started pleading stupidity after that, any time she tried to dump something on me that had nothing to do with what I was hired for, especially her "personal" projects.

RE: American Idol

Sure, first season everyone might have been shocked by Simon, but after that, anyone who entered the contest should EXPECT to be trashed by him and just brace themselves for it. His rudeness is one of the main points of the show. Anyone else notice how the other male judge is getting to be almost as bad?

RE: A Vexing Inheritance Question?

My Aunt stole, and is now displaying my inheritance from my grandmother in her home. Fortuntely she lives in Florida, so she is getting what she deserves LOL
When my other grandmother died, my aunt on that side took everything by destroying the current will and using an outdated version. Oh well, considering who she married, she is suffering for her sins already as well.
Regarding the "things" I just walked away and let them have them. As far as seeing them for what kind of people they are, sure ain't putting blinders on because of some biological tie.

RE: American Idol

The horrors of living with a teenager! Yep, it was on, but no, can't say I was really watching it. Having that noise drifting in from another room was hard enough. I swear most of those people are completely tone deaf if they think they can sing at all. And the families and friends that tell them they can, and build them up to make complete fools out of themselves...who needs enemies?

RE: Do you think private universities should exist?

“Athletes tend to get the free college education.”
This is one of the most screwed up parts of the education system. There should be no scholarships for athletes unless their grades etc qualify them over the other students. Being able to run and throw a ball has nothing to do with academics.
“I see some students who go on and on and on say 15 different scholarship awards to help them pay for it.”
That seems completely wrong to me. Shouldn’t these be given to other kids instead of letting a few hog them all???

RE: HAS ANYONE EVER TAKEN

Threads? No, sure wouldn't want a copyright to this goofy stuff. LOL But things like reports, artwork, stuff like that can be copyrighted. A presentation could be "documented" by doing a "run through" in front of someone who's word will be listened to, and will verify that "no, the supervisor didn't come up with this on Wednesday because we saw it last week."

Does that make more sense?

Newbie

I KNOW this to be true.

RE: WOULD "YOU" COMPLAIN IF.....................

I think this whole thing is ridiculous, but am curious as to just what he is complaining about.confused

RE: Would you go out on a date

Sorry, nothing personal, just can't fly.

RE: Names needed

Or you could just pick all you like. My mother had 6 names altogether. I had 5 when I was married, 4 now since I dropped the hyphenated ex's name. My kids have 5. But hey, gives a person a lot to pick from. My mother never went by her first name except on legal matters. Always used her second. Don't even use any of the names I gave one kid, just use a nickname LOL

Did some reading through these forums, and, uh, yeah, have seen some of that already rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Do you think private universities should exist?

“Well because (i think) poor and wealthy men don't have equal rights in Education.”
Or anything else. And as far as the difference between private and public goes, both can suck depending on the school. Only thing a parent can really do is track their child's studies on their own, making sure they are progressing properly, and forget expecting anyone else to do your job. Nope, not the teacher's responsibility to teach appropriate attitude etc.

“If it were not for forign investment you would all still be picking olives for a living.”
How incredibly rude. Just as ridiculous as saying that we need all those immigrants in the US to pick our crops. (Also completely confused as to why Americans should pay to educate illegal immigrants. Drop all those ESL classes, and make them know enough to function in the classroom before being enrolled, like American kids have to. Fair IS fair. I just don’t get why they get special treatment over American kids in American schools. The funds from those classes could help with overall education costs/improvements.)

“The point is, should you HAVE to pay for it??.”
I don’t think students should have to pay for it. I think that those who get the better grades should be given the “slots”. The slackers who didn't really apply themselves should be the ones who have to pay to just play all day.

“We have to pay for public schools as well, lol.”
Forced payments through property taxes, which is completely unfair to those who don’t even have kids in school.

“Many children of immigrant families for example attain very high grades because they have a different work ethic and a determination to succeed despite the odds against them.”
I think this happens in America solely due to the fact that we are forced to bend over backwards to assist/accommodate/coddle them in the interest of Political Correctness, which I have been against ever since I first heard the concept and laughed out loud. Might have sounded good in theory to some, but by now it has shown just how damaging it really is.
thumbs down thumbs down thumbs down

RE: Christmas Craft: Bead and Pipe Cleaner Ornaments

Used to run a preschool, so I have a million of them. I think one of the kids' favorites was that salt and flour dough, but I dump in a LOT of cinnamon so they smell nice too. Brown color is perfect for "gingerbread" looking projects. Another they really liked was the edible finger paint. Just add food coloring to yogurt and let them go for it. Especially good for the really little ones who are going to be eating the stuff anyway rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Names needed

If my last had been a boy, I was going to name him Theordore Alexander Zebediah, and call him Lil Taz, when he was wild, and Teddy when he was sweet.

RE: Would you go out on a date

Sorry, but wouldn't catch a plane for a first date.

LOL Momma's a tax expert, so bring on those forms. You ain't gettin nothin' rolling on the floor laughing

RE: HAS ANYONE EVER TAKEN

I think that it actually happens a lot, and probably to everyone at some time or another. I learned like another poster here, to put my name where they couldn't miss/alter/erase/etc. Also, document it, and don't forget the date. Kind of like a common law copyright.

Newbie

Just here to see what happens, don't really EXPECT anything. But I will say that I give as good as I get, so...rolling on the floor laughing

RE: First amendment and religion?? Your interpretation??

"shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"
The government has already made a lot of laws prohibiting christians from their traditional "exercise thereof". As the prison guard said, they aren't allowed to kill animals for their "worship", she isn't allowed to carry a bible, and no, kids aren't allowed to have Christmas/Easter anything in schools, during the last holiday nativity scenes were banned and even a peace wreath was protested against. Seems to be a lot of prohibition going on.
As far as just making the laws according to what is right and what is wrong, how do you do that when some of these religions are going to claim that their animal sacrifices are part of their worship, but most people think it is disgusting and barbaric? And just how far does it go when all these bizarre fringe religions are added in? Is scientology a real religion, is worshiping fairies and trolls a real religion...?
