There are times that I make posters/advertisings--whatever, for credit promotons at my work, and my dept. supervisor would take the credit. And everyone knows she isn't talented in that area. I now put my NAME on the front.
the ones that hurt are the ones that pay off big, promotions, bonuses.
The praise factor I ain't too crazy about, it tends to lock you into a position where its expected of you.
Some just do not like being assigned center stage or front man. Some work and produce better when allowed to blend in with the crowd or entourage. and as ideas and tasks go those that did not do it knows ho did and that sometimes is better than the praise and bonuses.... Ok not the bonuses
I was the Event planner and Supervisor at work. The head chef was also the General Manager of the place. I planned huge weddings, graduations....you name it. I spent hours planning menus, picking cors, making original placecards....I always went way above and beyond to make sure each event was special. The only thing the head chef had to do was cook the food I ordered for the event.
After the parties the Host would almost ALWAYS put in an extra tip for me. They would usually state it was for the party planner. SOmetimes these tips were in the 1000s of dollars. I NEVER saw one. The general manager would keep them and right in front of me take the credit and just say "we have a great staff working for us". He was such a theiving jerk.
I think that it actually happens a lot, and probably to everyone at some time or another. I learned like another poster here, to put my name where they couldn't miss/alter/erase/etc. Also, document it, and don't forget the date. Kind of like a common law copyright.
Threads? No, sure wouldn't want a copyright to this goofy stuff. LOL But things like reports, artwork, stuff like that can be copyrighted. A presentation could be "documented" by doing a "run through" in front of someone who's word will be listened to, and will verify that "no, the supervisor didn't come up with this on Wednesday because we saw it last week."

I can relate to this one...I draw, scetch and pastel and also crayon. When I have bosses that find out about my artwork, they have tried to get me to do things for them for the job. Such as windows and posters for the walls or advertisements. No, I will not do that, because then they will expect it, and I tell them that. I don't want to be used in that manner. Taken advantage of, if you will. Has anyone ever said something original and then heard it later, like in a year or so? And you think, wow, I said that... Or the ones that have suggestion boxes. You put some in and they use your ideas, then it becomes a part of a new idea, or promotion. but, you never get any recognition or compensation for your suggestion? Kat

People steal my phrases I make up when I'm mad.
I don't like people who aren't original. jk
