well, when i was about 15 i wrote to the newspaper about lack of recreational facilities in the area for kids and teenagers or even adults (big kids lol) and they did a story on it, it sort of snowballed from there and i became vice chair on the council recreation committee and i received an award, a grant really, of a substantial amount of money to build a skate park and hang out place, one of the first in northern ireland!
since i've been an adult though i've joined in on the nestle boycott and campaigned against them and also campaigned and took part in radio shows and PR excercises about the rights of mothers, particularly breastfeeding mums.
was a reporter full time for only about 6 - 8 months, but have done freelance, the odd bits and pieces, for a few years, haven't done much lately though

how interesting littlewriter well done what was the skatepark hang out place like then ..did it turn out how you imagined it to be ? i bet everybody was proud of you for doing that !.. what was the nescot boycot campaign about then ? and why did breastfeeding mothers need more rights than other mothers ? do you think that single parents get enough support from the government ? were you nervous about doing the radio shows ?.. you read some interesting books you know ? ..what's your veiw on animal rights
- yes! i was bricking it! i get nervous talking on the phone, so talking to so many people on the radio was frightening! i tried to imagin i was an actress or something and it helped a little.
.. you read some interesting books you know ? ..what's your veiw on animal rights
- well i have recently become a vegan because i dont agree with the treatment of animals in the meat industry. also i dont agree with all the hormones, antibiotics, drugs, etc etc pumped into the animals and their products. i am as shocked as anyone about becoming a vegan, its not something i thought about for a long time, it just happened *bang* - like that! haven't eaten meat or an animal product like eggs or milk since!

I'm not into violent protest, I believe in Gandhi's philosophy of passive resistance, but I've demonstrated for the environment when I was younger, chaining myself to trees, etc.
Was dragged away by the police and spent a couple of hours in jail, but nothing ever went to trial. I don't know how much good it really did, but it was kinda' fun.

Back in the early 60's I protested against the Vietnam war, we used to raise hell back then when things bothered us, now adays everyone just voices their opinions in blogs but I think protests that are visual can make a difference. Also people tend to fear speaking against the government. Right now people are upset because of the lack of healthcare in our country, Michael Moore has produced a very interesting documentary called "Sicko". It is really sad that even people with health insurance don't get proper treatment and our denied rights that cost them their life. Also, there is something wrong with the system when a person such as myself has to pay nearly $500 a month for health insurance!
RFLMAO, daddy always said I ought to be an activist. Have been organizing and participating in protests since I was a kid. In Junior High I got a few school employees fired for "locking us down" once, and found out it could actually be fun to bring down creeps hehehehe Doesn't even need to be a formal, organized demonstration for me to protest. Have been known to holler all the way from the balcony level, and called out the whole delegation (police, state legislature, etc) and told them they were full of crap and lying to these people, and telling them how to get themselves killed. Made them all look stupid and sheepish, and they had to stand there in front of that audience and admit that everything I said was TRUE. Yep, just little old me was the whole protest. But boy was I approached by people when the thing let out, mostly thanking me for saying something.
Yep, I call BS out for what it is every time I am faced with it, or see someone else that could be hurt by it, and never give a hoot whether or not I am politically correct. I just take the side that isn't out to hurt the other for no reason I guess. That is why my car has a SECURE OUR BORDERS sticker, and stuff like this
"L.A. hospital under fire after death in ER lobby"
really worries me. I think that we will be seeing even more and more incidents like this, and more people will die. Just another symptom of the over loading of our medical services by illegal immigrants.
Yeah....In yr 1996....in a false election in our country .....me n some of my friend...tried to boycott a polling booth. Suddenly some army person came and one soldier hit me a hockey stick and arrested 2 of my friends.
