The Art Of War- Sun Zi

I've read "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. Fascinating. Especially when applied to real life business.

Reading about Sun Tzu, himself, was an interesting tale.

At the moment, I have four books on the "go"

The first one is always with me The Essential Rumi (translated by Coleman Barks)

Then we have The Awakening of Intelligence by Jiddu Krishnamurti

These two are reference books for my daily sojourn into the realities of life and love.

“Lyrical Ballads,” a compilation written by Samuel Coleridge and William Wordsworth, contains “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” “Fears in Solitude,” “Frost at Midnight,” “This Lime-Tree Bower my Prison,” “The Nightingale,” and “Kubla Khan.”
This is pure escapism for me, as Coleridge was born in a little village about 3 miles from where I lived as a young child. He has always fascinated me for his vision. I only recently found out, that the majority of his work was written while he was on opium .. see what it does to you!!! lol

and finally for night time reading (a chapter before bed) The Power of One by Bryce Courtney. I have just started reading this book again as it was the only one I have ever read that made me cry.
It is beautifully written and the storyline is an intricate weave of a boy's life in southern Africa from before WW2, through the war and out the other side.

The follow up is an examination of the introduction to Apartheid .. but I cannot remember what it is called.

Speaking of emotional reactions to books...

April Fool's Day, also by Bryce Courtney, was one that had me in tears, the sharing of his son's journey with Aids..intense and very raw..

Mitch Albom.. Author of 'Tuesday's with Morrie', 'The Five people You Meet In Heaven.", and the latest read was "For One More day'. Insightful writing, and also an emotive response required...

Ok...now I am scared...if you make an assumption of who I am by what I read, or have listed what I have read...you would have an unbalanced view of who I am...

I read instinctually, what feels right for that moment in time, and am an everchanging evolving person.

I would hope that everyone realises that we are all greater than the sum of our parts (including our literary proclivities). I based my statement on the mere fact that very few of us will force ourselves to continue reading something which does not meet our standards, or current requirements for knowledge, wisdom, inspiration or entertainment. For example, if I were to mention that I had read the Koran, one would be grossly amiss to conclude that I was Muslim in my belief.

I would therefore make the logical assumption that you must possess a strong fibre of character!

Not at all...

I have read The Baghavad Gita, and sections of The Quaran, as well as the Bible, teachings of The Dalai Lama... I dread to think what religion I may be assumed to be with that collection...
