I just heard the other day that the Nations unemployment rate is 4.6% and in Michigan it is 7%.....the tourism here has been greatly affected last summer.....with the gas soaring upwards for this summer....I'm afraid it could be worse for the economy here....

wow I disagree with those numbers....
I know of a few who are unemployed and not on any list or being counted. they are living off their savings or slowly selling what took a lifetiemto acquire... they are not figured in.
someone told me the last tuesday she waited in the new claim unemployemtn line for 3and half hours.

those bean counters are so flexible they can make those numbers say anything to place a positive spin out something.

I agree things have opnly just begun. only those who are active in winter sports are prepared as they have practicing downhill skiing all season.rolling on the floor laughing

That's the way it was here last summer...

A big greenhouse was being built.

Jobs for construction workers.....

Young, able-bodied local men were driving around in their pick-up trucks all day, getting drunk at night. They didn't want the job.

The Mexican workers who legally came here were happy to be building the greenhouse and were up at 6 am to be picked up and driven to the site by the company who hired them.

Guess the wage just wasn't worth it to those local guys confused

I know there is work ......I just don't think there will be as long of a season nor the hours available.....as there was before the war.....I've never had a problem coming up with money.....I can get pretty creative.....the spending has decreased.....atleast that is what the owners say.....not to mention the people crossing the Mackinac Bridge.....as compared to other years.....its way down.....didn't have as long of a snowmachine season either....

I couldn't handle not working. I would go nuts. I would just worry about bills piling up to the point of paranoia. It got so bad at one time they just told me to go home. Heck, what is the weekend or the days you have off to you if you don't have a job but just another day.
