Man from Mt.Pleasant was driving drunk....killed a nine year old boy and cause severe head injury to another young boy....was sentenced today in Michigan and received only six years in prison!!!! This is so embarrassing....just horrid!!!!!! And to add salt to injury he had just gotten off probation nine days prior for another drunken ride!!!!
They were just being young boys riding their bikes!!!! I know if that happened to me I would have to get radical.....no doubt in my mind.....how the Father had the strength to even face this man in Court while he was breathing is beyond my comprehension......And to think in six years he's free to do it again.....What the hell is wrong with our laws???????
The laws evidently need to get tougher in the U.S. and in Canada. Police need to be able to enforce them, get them into the court system and have charges stick with appropriate penalties - especially for repeat offenders.
Some people still don't get it - you can't drink and then drive. They figure the rules apply to everyone else or that they are too harsh. Unfortunately it takes something like this to get people thinking again....
a 4 year old girl was struck by a car at an apartment complex in ft. worth .. she died at the hospital.. was ruled accidental but still sad when someone so young loses their life
Yep...and you are right...but how many people take drinking for granted???...don't even think about it...
I was trying to make a point, albeit not a very clear one...
We live in a society where alcohol is so acceptable, and accessible..and forget how easy it is to be one too many over the limit, and just zoom down the shop for cigarettes and the paper.
At the Local tavern where I use to work the bartenders give me a ride home when I need and my jeep stays at the bar. The next morning I either call a friend for a ride or walk to the bar, about 2 miles away.
I have gotten a dui before but I was barely over .o8 (or three beers) and it has been about 10 years.
When I get off work some times at midnight I will go down to the bar and have a coke or two then give friends that are intoxicated a ride home.
it's called taking resposibility for ones actions. Whether one is drunk or not it is still manslaughter with a vehicle. But being impaired just makes it all the worse.
And I shall leave the subject two other just had to place my .02$ in there
That guy should've gotten more than 6 years. Considering this is his second and in a case like this, should be hit as a habitual offender.
I drove once seeing double after a party in a state where first offense is/was (20 someodd years ago) an automatic one year loss of drivers license......North Carolina. I didn't get caught but scared the hell out of me and I never drove that drunk again.
For about the past ten - twelve years, my drinking has been almost non-existant. When I do, I'll have one or two, mainly beer
A man in Battle Creek Michigan hit and ran after hitting an 88 year old man that was crossing the street in a 25 mile an hour zone. They found the driver because of the mirror that broke off his car when he hit the man.
The guy was sitting at home like nothing happened. No guilt....he was driving on a suspended license. But the odds are even if it wasnt suspended he would have been driving down that road, at that time, and hit the man anyway!
If he would have been drinking, would the situation be worse? I dont think so, I think its as bad as it could be.
