Blind dates used to thrill me because of the challenge that they represented, but from my experience, they were mostly a waste of time. Most of the women were not my types, being too short, too fat, too this, too that, and mostly shy to the point of being boring. But the experiences helped. they were teaching experiences. like going to war and not knowing what the enemy were using, knives, pistols, sub machine guns etcc!!! So improvising, and finding a way out as fast as possible was all part of the game.
I agree Lisajane. So long as you know something about the other person. It's very much a nothing ventured, nothing gained situation. Yes it's should be even better if you've seen a photograph, to give you an idea I guess, but as we've all discovered, not everyone is truely honest with the photo's they supply! But I have met some great people, (and some disasters! But that's life). For most part, they've been good nights out.
Some are good friends now. Just put it all down to experience. And at the end of the day, unless you are a totally outgoing and confident person, (in which case you wouldn't probably be on here, the more experience, the better!! I live in hope! Sure I'll get it right one day!!
Absolutely it is, although I would only go on a blind date organised by a close friend. I haven't been on a blind date myself other friends have and they have had successful and unsuccessful encounters.
On occasion I pass a local branch of the Institute For the Blind and think that I should hang around there and I might get a date with a woman that won't look at me and be repelled...%/
Being on here might not be a question of not being outgoing or confident... could simply be a way of broadening horizons that could be a little confined by every day responsibilities
They have always been far more successful at dating than I ever was; from all that I've seen, most of those types never even need to ask for a date; they just appear and "presto" they have them...but thank you for the nice compliment. :)
