Morning, Algarion.
I can speak from experience, I actually married someone - despite my other reservations - because he kept me laughing. It was a new experience for me to have someone else apparently appreciate the absurdities of life the same way I did. All in all it wasn't a terrible marriage. We just were not, ultimately, a very good match.
So I don't think its superficial. It is good to be able to tap into the underlying joy of living with someone else and, if we are lucky, see a different perspective that helps release the laughter that can get trapped inside.
He doesn't nessecarily have to make me laugh and I might say some off the wall things at times that he might scratch his head over but I do want someone that has a good sense of humor and that will laugh at his own self.
I laugh quite a bit, heck I almost got fired from a job for excessive laughter....go figure....I won't applogize for being happy.
Maybe it is superficial for some but that would be up to the individual to determine over time....
i saw a woman on the news last week who does not like to laugh cause it causes her to loose all muscle control and she falls to the ground and cant move for like 10 seconds
