over time I have found him to be quite likeable! Thanks for pointing out the fact that I have stressed to all that this is not a personal attack but as you say... I am just stating a fact!peace

I hear what you are saying Pete but what is seen isnt necessarily realising the potential of what could be.

I find Gillys threads bring people out into the the open who normally dont post on much else mainy because a lot of threads hold no interest for them and whilst the fun and banter of the flirting threads probably have broken down many barriers, some of us have quite different ways of dealing with issues and topics - its different strokes for different folks

OK Gilly has done a lot of posts today but it has for me meant the difference between deleting my profile and staying. If today had have been anything like the last couple of days i would have been seriously thinking of removing myself from the site.

Having said this, I dont know if you used the personal mail facility to speak to Gilly on this issue before making this thread - if not then i do think it unkind of you to attempt public humiliation in this manner.

public humiliation??? Did I miss something in the thread?

mass posting is quite unusual to CS and as such I feel I should comment on it and as Gilly is the only one to do it, I feel within my rights to mention his name!

Do I post a thread, not mentioning the only name who mass posts? if so, then this surely implies there is something wrong with it!! in which case my thread and the use of Gilly's name is even more justified??

Please read the opening post to my thread and you will see quite clearly that it is not about the individual but the fact he chooses to fill the pages with threads in one day, rather than like the rest of us who post a thread on a subject we would like to discuss and even then, not all at once!

I am pleased his threads have helped you to remain on CS and I also enjoy reading his threads, but not at the expense of others who see their threads sink because of the amount of threads posted by gilly in one go.

i dont dispute where you are coming from Pete, only that this couldve been resolved much more easily if you had spoken to Gilly in private first - i dont want to argue with you or anybody else - im off - take care. Trish

and what about the pages and pages of banter we have to go through everyday whilst looking for a decent conversation with people

conversing

what do we do ? ....click button turn the pages and move on !

or create a variety of topics for other people to talk about whilst leaving the banterers alone !

there's nothing stopping any of you starting as many topics as you want on this site

if you want more humour there's nothing stopping people pasting lots more humour everyday along with all the endless banter thats posted everyday !

also we can all create threads about people on this site but i'm told that it breaks the rule of the site

you and your freinds might be entertain by all the banter posted in the uk forums ..but people like me are not ..and therefore set up lots of other threads so that we can have a different kind of conversations

nobody is complaining about you and your freinds number of post topic of conversation or creating threads about you !

we just walk of leave you alone and enjoy talking to people on the international forums

have a good day whilst we carry on having ours

1.WITHOUT BOTHERING YOU

2. TELLING YOU WHAT TO POST

3.TELLING YOU HOW OFTEN YOU SHOULD POST

4.LOOKING INTO YOUR THREADS AND TOPICS

5.OR SETTING UP THREADS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR TOPICS WHICH EACH OF US CAN QUITE EASILY DO

6. GET ON WITH YOUR BUSSINESS AND LEAVE OTHER PEOPLE TO GET OB WITH THERE'S BECAUSE NOBODY IS BOTHERING YOU ........................

AND IT ONLY TAKES A CLICK OF A BUTTON TO TURN A PAGE
WHICH MOST OF US MANY TIMES A DAY ON THIS SITE TO FIND A DECENT CONVERSATION

HAVE A GOOD DAY PETER
AND BY THE WAY I DON'T NORMALY EVEN GO ON OTHER PEOPLES THREADS

MUCH LESS SET UP THREADS ABOUT THEM BECAUSE AS FAR AS I;M CONCERB THEY'RE POSTING TOO MUCH

START POSTING MORE YOURSELF AND LEAVE OTHER PEOPLE ALONE ...THAT WAY YOU WON'T NOTICE HOW MUCH OTHER PEOPLE ARE POSTING ...AND JUST GET ON WITH IT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO BRING OTHER PEOPLE DOWN

Humor is in the eye of the beholder, some is more understated than others.

I think Gilly's just trying to open up the forums and get people talking.

It's amazing what people can learn by casting a wider net than the usual scope of things, eh?

I can see where you are coming from regarding the threads that have important topics sinking into Oblivion before they even have a chance to get the attention they deserve. I have noticed many times someone who is obviously worried or confused and needing advice creating a thread only for it to be swamped by someone who does mass posting AND also by the infantile, crappy threads with names such as..

1) Do you like the shape of the nose on the person in the box above you uh oh yawn

2) Would you like to virtually kiss the person in the box above you yawn sleep

3)Say something nice about the person in the box above you but it can't be about their nose because we already had that in one of the above threads yawn yawn sleep

4)Lastly, for the really exciting thread, because "always save the best until last" is my motto thumbs up Wait for it, cheering

4)Can you guess which colour the person in the box above socks are and do you reckon he/she washes them once a week, twice a week or just wears them continuously for a month then burns them dunno

So my opinion is that the sinking of important threads cannot just be blamed on someone who does mass posting... the ones who create the endless infantile, idiotic threads have to take their share of the blame also.

I am not sure if you were refering to Gilly or not when you said it turns out to be a better thread when the OP has a genuine interest in the thread subject? ..But, if you were.. my opinion is that he usually comes back from time to time and talks to the people who have contributed to his thread and he even emails them to discuss the topic. Of course, if you were just refering to people in general that create a thread then seem to have no genuine interest in it then what I have just said obviously doesn't apply.

Anyone can post a thead. But why be redundant??

If one person floods the forum with threads, it might be better for that person to blog more often.

Flooding on purpose usually comes from kids on vacation, especially this time of year laugh

I think Pete has made it clear that there was no offense intended to anyone in particular and whilst he will be aware, no doubt, the rules state that threads should not name a particular member, I understand that is with a view to being disparaging or degrogatory to that said member. Those threads have been removed in the past and from what Pete says that intention is not there. I believe he also makes clear that if he had addressed this subject without reference to a particular member, it would have, in fact, made his thread look all the more spurious and insidious??

I do not see what the difficulty is in understanding his focus on this??

It still comes back to intent, yet again. I fully understood Pete's intentions and FULLY DETAILED explanations, and those who wish to derive offense from it do so because they wish to, in an attempt to appear they have to go on the defensive and gain support from others.

If this thread had mentioned my name, I would not have been offended. Some valid points have been made.

yeahhead banger

We need his threads to balance the boring "above" for instance...

I really don't understand the purpose of this thread. Pete, if you have different stuff...be free to bother! He has his own line and althought i don't post on his threads that much, i love his job! imagine CS without him? That would be Ojazoz and her "above's"...also a variety...

So...no holidays for Gilly...
People, soul brothers, be as funny as you can to make Pete laughlaugh

alison, couldn't have said it better myself. i think if people actually read the original post and pete's explanations they wouldn't be jumping on the defensive so quickly. i've read over pete's posts and can't any argumentitive words and it's plain to see he isn't trying to start an argument or a "lets all get gillyloves69" initiative!

you can't get plainer than saying it wasn't a personal attack, it's there in black and white people! so i don't understand how can people derive a personal attack from this thread. confused

i do enjoy gilly's threads at times, but the point is, they sometimes flood the forums and bump other threads off the page, and these may be personal and important to the members that posted them. of course its nice to have a balance on the forums, the fun threads have their place, as do the serious ones and also the philisophical ones. a flooding of one type of thread can be offputting though, which ever type it is.

anyway, i feel i should add a disclaimer here, for those who will somehow read that i hate gillyloves69 in this post:- i have nothing against gilly, i think he's an interesting guy who seems to have
an immense curiosity about the world around him, and i do enjoy his threads at times. it would also be nice to see gilly post on threads that are not just started by himself!

Hey! It's good to see you replying to the thread Gilly, as I am well aware that you only post in your own threads! Not sure why though??

I read through it a few times hoping to see your reason for the mass posting but alas you chose to not to explain... I could be drawn on some of your comments but being sidetracked on the various points you make takes away from the fact, that this thread is about 'MASS POSTING' at the exspense of others! It is a community and as such, a reasonable amount of thought for others would be expected!

I have received quite a few emails on the subject since posting this thread and many relate to the fact that the UK forums became the GILLY forums and many stopped posting... now it is happening to the International forums I felt unable to ignore it!

I agree that the rules have nothing against 'Mass Posting of Threads' but if you would like to pop over to the UK forums at the moment, you will see how it has returned to normal... Many threads by many people, even a FEW or your threads are there!

The forums are there for us all and by us acting in a responsible manner, it can be enjoyed by us all!

I have nothing against your subjects and enjoy them as much as others do but I am unable to understand why you choose to post so many threads, all at the same time, that other threads are forced into oblivion? If you were to explain that you spend hours/days thinking of good subjects, writing them all down and then posting while you have limited time on your PC then I would have a better understanding of WHY? dunno confused

I actually don't remember talking to you either. And the post was not directed to you.

The adjectives you give to my posts aren't really clever! You don't seem to have sensibility to understand my points.

I understand points of a lot of people here, though i might not like them. You seem not to achieve what's beyond, further my words...i've actually said so on a thread of mine before...
You are not a type of friend i would hang out with either...

I attack words and not ppl...

You just don't have the appropriate intelligence to respond to my posts when they come out...the ability of communicating...

I actually don't read your posts, no ineterest...only if they might relate to mine...but you do read mine don't ya? Even if it's a matter of checking how obnoxious i behave...

Now...i'm sorry if this post is too obnoxious...
