I find playing the piano improves my mood measurably. My mother, who was visiting me till yesterday, thought that I was very melancholy because she'd hear me playing the piano in the middle of the night. I had to explain that playing the piano (at 1:00 am) is actually a mood elevating thing for me and not a sign of depression.
