Does anyone know how long a ex has to get his stuff out of your house after you have broken up? And can you charge a storage fee after a month or more?
Depends if it's just clothes and cd's, as over here pocession is nine tenths of the law. Same as you can set a date for the items to be picked up and then after that, you can dispose of them as you wish.
where I live we call it bin bagging, were we put all their stuff into bin bags and put it outside
He just came today to get his tv/dvd/movies, etc... but he still has furniture here and some clothes... He owes me money... I insured his car/ my name is on the title also.. so I am afraid not to insure it , for fear he may not keep it insured... he is still payinig for it ,,, so we cant get my name off the title till it is paid for... I just wonder if he will pay me back for insurance... he hasn't paid up yet!
where we live its called Bonfire Night......which in other words means..if you aint come and got ya stuff out of the house by the deadline...the kids`ll be havin toasted marshmallows later.....
As far as the car, I`d say you are screwed, unless he is willing to get a new loan on the car.
You most likely will not see any of the money he owes to you ether. Your only recourse is probably to take him to small claims court for the money. But even then the most you`ll likely get is a judgment against him..
If I lived with someone and broke up I would want their stuff ut pretty much straight away. A week would be good, particularly if the break up was on bad terms.
Or if not so bad and I had an extra room I would want to put all their stuff there.
If you really want it out tell him you will start selling it on ebay
