Did you realize that rich people have more money than poor people!? This is truly an amazing factoid.
The large and ever growing "stunningly Obvious Statistics" file has a new entry this week with a report from the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, which discovered the truly shocking news that people who earn more than $110,000 per year are more satisfied with their jobs than the peoples who earn less than $12,500 per year! (LiveScience.com)
According to what must have been a truly agonizing survey from Salary.com, six out of ten employees boldly admitted to wasting time surfing the net while at work. No one was quite sure as to whether that had any relationship with many companies downward turns in "productivity"...
Competition for the World's Craziest Mother Award has again heated up with the news out of Sweden that the mother of a bullied child showed up at the school playground last week, with a crowbar and wielding an ax.
According to all reports, no actual violence occurred, but the mother was said to have "threatened" the children who had been tormenting her son, and then went home before the police arrived...(TheLocal.Se)

A survey in the U.K a few years back concluded that, and I quote,

"A pedestrians risk of being struck by a vehicle is directly proportionate to the amount of time spent outdoors and the number of roads crossed."

"What's happened?"
"The doomsday machine."
"The doomsday machine? What is that?"
"A device which will destroy all human and animal life on earth."
- President Merkin Muffley & Russian Ambassador

"Cobalt thorium G has a radioactive halflife of ninety three years. If you take, say, fifty H-bombs in the hundred megaton range and jacket them with cobalt thorium G, when they are exploded they will produce a doomsday shroud. A lethal cloud of radioactivity which will encircle the earth for ninety three years!"
"I'm afraid I don't understand something. Is the Premier threatening to explode this if our planes carry out their attack?"
"No sir. It is not a thing a sane man would do. The doomsday machine is designed to to trigger itself automatically."
- Russian Ambassador & President Merkin Muffley

"But this is absolute madness, ambassador. Why should you build such a thing?"
"There are those of us who fought against it, but in the end we could not keep up with the expense involved in the arms race, the space race, and the peace race. And at the same time our people grumbled for more nylons and washing machines. Our doomsday scheme cost us just a small fraction of what we'd been spending on defense in a single year. But the deciding factor was when we learned that your country was working along similar lines, and we were afraid of a doomsday gap."
"This is preposterous. I've never approved of anything like that."
"Our source was the New York Times."
"Dr. Strangelove, do we have anything like that in the works?"
- President Merkin Muffley & Russian Ambassador

"Under the authority granted me as director of weapons research and development, I commissioned last year a study of this project by the Bland corporation. Based on the findings of the report, my conclusion was that this idea was not a practical deterrent, for reasons which, at this moment, must be all too obvious"
"But, how is it possible for this thing to be triggered automatically, and at the same time impossible to untrigger?"
"Mr. President, it is not only possible, it is essential. That is the whole idea of this machine, you know. Deterrence is the art of producing in the mind of the enemy... the fear to attack. And so, because of the automated and irrevocable decision making process which rules out human meddling, the doomsday machine is terrifying. It's simple to understand. And completely credible, and convincing."
- Dr Strangelove & President Merkin Muffley

I'm not sure if calling upon The Doctor would help much doh

In a recent survey of accidents suffered while taking part in sport it was discovered that more golfers are hit by golf balls than any other category of people.

So, there we have it; if you don't want to be hit by a golf ball (small hard nasty object) do not take up golf as a sport.

Also, more than 50% of people who drowned swimming said that they would not have drowned if they had not been silly enough to go for a swim.

Amazing! Playing golf and swimming can kill you. You have been warned.........
