As most of you know I got offered the job at the V.A. Hospital in Indiana. I am really excited about the job, although I am beginning to have second thought. I have to let them know by the end of September. Here are a couple reasons why.
1.) Dont know anyone there (yeah I have moved before where I didnt know anyone, but that was before my daughter was born)
2.) I have actually gotten a couple of places responding to other resume's I have sent, for better positions, although I have not been offered the jobs yet.
See if they could keep you in your state,to uproot is a lot, new housing and things like that, is it worth the pay to go,only you know what is good for you. If it was me I would stay.
to #2...if the places that you've sent your resume cant get back to you by the end of the month..their organization might be in a bad shape and you might not want to be part of it..
to #1...if you are going to move..the sooner the better before your kids get attached to friends (I assume they are still young)
Simple, You tell the other places that you have been offered a job eleswharem , and that you need to give them your answer soon. Be honest wioth them, see how bad they really want you
Try dragging the final decision out a while and if nothing better comes take it... cos with and through your child as well as your personality you'll meet new people even faster.
It's tough to uproot yourself. I agree with others on the financial aspect. Will the salary be worthwhile?
My company relocated me - I barely lifted a finger. And they made it monetarily worth my while - a good thing because it is frickin' expensive to live out here.
Wow ...I didnt expect to get this many responses so quickly! Thanks...let me see if I can answer all the questions.
First of all they are not going to help me with the move, however the cost of living is nearly half of what it is here in Oregon. Secondly, I plan on leaving Oregon, whether I take this job or not. Third, the job in Indiana is based on me finishing my degree THERE.(microbiology/criminology) So yes I do plan on staying in either the medical field or forensics. Fourth, The other places all know that I need to respond to the V.A hospital by the end of September, and a couple of them I have interviews with. (Before the end of September)

I agree with this that f you do move and dont like the people and ur little girl is upset by the move....then id try the other positions babe ....you will get them!! hope that helpsxxbabs
Chele what youre doing isb stating the obvious. You really dont want the job.Just hang in there and one will come thru that you will have no doubts about. And moving into a whole new area is a scary thing, even if we are adults.
Thanks Honey....I think you are right...I really dont want this job. I guess I just needed someone to say I didnt have to take it?? Although there is one company that I have been talking to that I think would be a great place to work...so we shall see!
Sometimes, hon, all ya need is to see your words in print, hear what others have to say about your words, and then, several heads can be better than one.
It may seem odd, but I also read that you were not ready to go. A big move like that has to be the result of a much deeper feeling inside of your heart.
My thoughts...stay where you are for the time being....see what else develops...when your heart skips a beat after opening up the right envelope, you'll know where you're supposed to be.
I am a more practicle person,Chele. I would take the job as it is civil service. Once there, you can transfer to another when it becomes available. Working for VA has a multitude of benefits, and once you are in the door...all sorts of opportunities will happen.
well howdy Judy honey never seem to see you this is pleasure indeed. You are such a blessing to this forum and you have helped so many without realizing it.And I love a little sage advise,it will go with about anything.
I'd pick Oregon...over Indiana....everytime !...stay put...could you imagine...making tha long move...and...not only hating it...but...quiting that job...and returning home...no fuggin way !!...
I am a disabled vet, so I dont think getting into a VA anywhere else would be all that tough...but I dont really know why I am just not feeling it with this particular job.
Thanks! That helps. Funny thing I just got off the phone with another potential employer...one that I had forgotten that I had applied to! ....Maybe this is the one!?!
